I'll be backing the Red Sox at home to get the win. So far in five games against Baltimore, Boston is outscoring the Orioles 35-19. When they beat them, they do so convincingly, and I think we see something similar this afternoon. Both teams are at the bottom of the division, and the AL East is turning into a two horse race.
The Tampa Bay Rays lead the New York Yankees by just a single game. But the Toronto Blue Jays and Orioles are both tied for third, sitting 8.5 games out of first place. The Red Sox sit two games behind them. Yes, there is still plenty of time to turn things around, but getting a home divisional win needs to be the main priority for the Red Sox before going to New York to face the Yankees this weekend.
I trust that Boston's focus is on the task at hand, and for this price I am willing to back them at home. The Red Sox absolutely smash lefties, watching their team batting average increase from .249 to .273 against southpaws. Plus Rogers' splits get MUCH worse on the road, and he's allowed at least three earned runs in seven straight starts.
