The weekend is upon us meaning plenty of MLB series begin tonight! I'll be heading to D.C. as the Washington Nationals host the Arizona Diamondbacks. Both teams are relatively hot, as the Snakes have won three straight, going 5-2 since the return from break, and the Nationals have won three of their last four, with a 4-2 record for the second half of the season. Eduardo Rodriguez is coming off his worst outing of the season. I expect him to turn things around tonight.
Diamondbacks vs. Nationals Prediction: Diamondbacks Win and Cover, Over 9.5
Best Bet: Diamondbacks ML (-130) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Call it Ole Reliable if you want, but once again, we are backing the Snakes against a left handed pitcher. Now tonight they are not at home, but I still trust them to rip this southpaw apart. Carson Palmquist is typically a relief pitcher, but for his small amount of innings pitched, this guy has given up way too much.
He gave up four earned runs on as many hits in 1.2 innings against the Rockies on Tuesday. In just eight innings in July from the bullpen, he has allowed 10 earned runs on 14 hits. Tonight, he faces the best hitting team against lefties in the MLB, and I see him getting blown up.
Now, the Snakes TT is priced at -143 for over 4.5, so I'll opt for the win for less juice. Eduardo Rodriguez already suffered a loss against this Washington team in June. The second time around, I think he figures them out and shuts them down, helping his team to a fourth straight win. As always, the Diamondbacks batting average jumps from .242 to .273 against left handed pitching. This leads the MLB and is usually enough for me to bet them each time they face a LHP. Their OPS also balloons from .708 overall to .781 against lefties. Call it a system if you want, but I'll go right back to the well.
