Happy Monday. Fourth of July is over and Wilson Contreras ended our weekend with a bang. We've got a small slate of games in the MLB today and I've got two big time hitters locked in.
The cheat sheet makes it a lot easier when I run through the stats I'm looking at and as always, hit me up on X if you've got more questions.
Hunter Goodman's on fire right now and tonight feels like another great spot for the power-hitting righty.
Goodman's batting .256 on the year, he's got the 3rd most home runs in the MLB (27) and he's on pace to have his best season yet.
This is his 4th year in the MLB and despite a small drop in batting average; he's on track to smash his career high of 31 home runs in a single season.
Goodman leads the Rockies in every offensive category and he's not just crushing the ball at Coors Field. He's hit 18 of his 27 home runs away from Coors Field, batting .284 on the road and recording a .654 SLG.
Goodman's HH jumps to 53% on the road this year and he's been even better against lefties. He's batting .284 against left handed pitchers this year, recording a 24% BRL, 54% HH and .568 SLG.
Eric Lauer will get the ball for the Dodgers tonight. He's got a 2.88 ERA since coming over to the Dodgers but he's also given up 6 home runs in just 34 innings of work (1.6 HR/9).
On the year Lauer's got a 4.84 ERA and he's giving up 2.2 HR/9. He's given up 17 total home runs this year and 13 have come against right handed bats.
Lauer's also using his 4-seam fastball 44% of the time against right handed bats and Goodman's been crushing fastballs.
Goodman's hitting .313 against 4-seam fastballs from left handed pitchers with a 62% HH rate. We just need him to make contact tonight and there's a chance it leaves the park.
Jame Wood is 23-years old, he's playing in just his third year and he's quickly becoming one of the best young hitters in baseball.
Wood's batting .266 this year with 23 home runs, 78 runs scored and 56 RBI. Wood leads the MLB in runs scored, BRL (28%) and HH (59%). He's hit the 7th most home runs in the MLB this year and a majority of those have come here in Washington D.C.
Wood's hitting .270 at home this year with a .563 SLG and 56% HH. Thirteen of his 23 home runs have been against right handed pitchers and tonight's matchup looks perfect.
Mike Burrows will take the mound for the Astros tonight. He's got a 5.58 ERA this year, allowing batters to hit .288 on the year and giving up 1.9 HR/9.
Burrows has given up 19 total home runs, 13 of which have come against left handed bats. He's allowing lefties to hit .318 on the year, with a .569 SLG and 41% HH.
Burrows is also going to either his 4-seam fastball or change-up 67% of the time against lefties and Wood crushes both pitches. Against righties, Wood's hitting above .300 against both pitches; with a HH just over 50%.
