Today's Dingers

James Wood

James Wood Home Run (+275) | Lucky Rebel

I'm going right back to James Wood, fresh off his second straight All-Star Game appearance.

Wood's batting .279 this year, he's got .575 SLG and he's hit 28 home runs. He's been significantly better at home, but tonight he plays his first game ever at Sutter Health Park. This Triple A ballpark was made for hitters like Wood.

On the bump for the Athletics is the rookie, Gage Jump. Jump's a left handed pitcher and has arguably been the Athletics' best pitcher this year. He's got a 3.51 ERA and he's only given up 4 home runs this year; but all 4 came over his last 3 games.

Jump was off to a red hot start to his season, but he's given up 24 hits in his last 3 games, 4 home runs and tonight he matches up with one of the best hitters in baseball.

Wood's hitting .282 against lefties this year, he's got a .542 SLG, 24% BRL and 56% HH. He's been absolutely crushing the ball against lefties this year and Jump's pitch mix lines up perfect.

Jump has a 62% flyball rate this year and against lefties he's almost exclusively using two pitches; his 4-seam fastball and his slider. He's allowing lefties to hit .319 on the year and Wood's got a HH of 54% against fastballs.

Mickey Moniak

Mickey Moniak Home Run (+270) | Lucky Rebel

Mickey Moniak's looked like a different player since coming over to the Rockies and a lot of it has to do with that Colorado air. Moniak's in his seventh year in the MLB and prior to his arrival in Colorado last year, he'd batting over .270 just once.

Moniak's now on track to do it in back to back years.

Last year Moniak hit a career high 24 home runs, 15 of them came at home. He was batting .303 at Coors Field with a .598 SLG. This year, it's more of the same.

Moniak's batting .314 at home, his SLG jumps to .720 and 12 of his 15 home runs have come here at Coors Field. He's been a lot better against right handed pitchers and tonight he gets the perfect righty on the bump; Brady Singer.

Singer's got a 4.72 ERA, he's allowing lefties to hit .295, with a .529 SLG and 42% HH. He's given up 20 total home runs this year (2.0 HR/9) and 14 have been to left handed bats.

Singer's two favorite pitches include a sinker and a slider; both pitches we've seen Moniak crush this year.
