Race Breakdown

Silverstone racing

Silverstone is a high speed race that will push these cars and drivers to the very limit. Defined by its long straights and high speed corners the track puts the aerodynamics of these cars under immense amounts of stress, so tire management will be a key factor.

As mentioned before aerodynamics and tire management are key but historically this race is won by a driver who qualified within the top 4. This weekend has a little bit more spice to it as well since it is a sprint weekend meaning an extra point is up for grabs.

Free Practice, Sprint, & Qualifying Breakdown

With it being a sprint weekend we only had 1 session of Free Practice where we saw Lewis Hamilton look very good ending in P1 followed by Antonelli and Leclerc. In the sprint shootout (Sprint Race Qualifying) we maintained the same top 2 with Verstappen sliding into 3rd.

In the sprint race we saw the shootout end with Hamilton in pole followed by Antonelli and Verstappen. In the sprint race we saw a ton of action highlighted by an intense battle for the win by Antonelli and Hamilton. In the end we saw Antonelli take home the additional point and win beating Hamilton by 2.745 seconds.

In qualifying we saw the typical culprits a of Williams, Cadillac, and Aston Martin get eliminated in Q1. In Q2 we saw an intense session from the mid tier teams to try and sneak into Q3 but none of them could quite find the pace in their cars to get into that final session.

So with the top 10 locked with both drivers from Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, and Racing Bulls it went down in dramatic fashion. We saw Antonelli dominate early on in the session and Russell recover from a Q1 spinout to make Q3. Followed by Ferrari who to Mercedes own account have shown shocking pace this weekend. The Red Bull has looked very good this weekend after applying their upgrades last week in Austria though we had complaints from Verstappen through all 3 sessions.

McLaren seemed to be struggling with their tires in quali making them just a step behind their competition. Then the sister team of Red Bull, Racing Bulls rounding out the bottom in Q3. We eventually had Antonelli placing P1, followed by a very fast and confident Leclerc, and then Hamilton in P3.

British Grand Prix Predictions & Best Bets

Race Winner: Kimi Antonelli -250 on Lucky Rebel

kimi win

Kimi looked fast in both Qualifying and the sprint races. After a rocky last 2 races after his win in Monaco the young driver is seemingly getting his groove back on Silverstone. He is on track for a Grand Slam on the iconic circuit, though I do not believe it is possible due to pit stop strategies.

With how fast and how much stress that Silverstone puts on these cars, mechanical failures are almost guaranteed to happen. With how fast and how much stress that Silverstone puts on these drivers, operational errors are almost guaranteed to happen. We saw it twice in Qualifying, two drivers spinning off the track due to lack of down force. So surely with the intensity and pressure of a race we will see it happen again.

The reasoning for this bet is basically a copy & paste for the previously mentioned bet. But to go a bit more in depth of track hazards for this one. The drivers are facing almost double the amount of G-Force on their necks at Silverstone than compared to other races. Drivers will be facing anywhere from 5-6 Gs on a turn in Silverstone.

It is also HOT in England this weekend with temperatures in the mid 80's (25's in Celsius). That is only gonna put more wear and stress on the cars, tires, and drivers.

We have been talking about the speed of this track, which makes it very easy to build up a gap to your competition. But the speed also makes it very easy for you to lose that gap whether it be a mistake of your own or another driver once a yellow flag is shown and either type of safety car is deployed you have to slow down allowing your competitors to catch up.

Also with the expectation Kimi Antonelli will win from pole those Ferrari cars looked very fast behind him, more so than any other week we have had so far. Not to mention his teammate George Russell is trying to keep his Championship hopes alive so he will be pushing as well.
