Opening weekend for the WNBA and we got a great one to kick it off with. The Dallas Wings will head north to take on the Indiana Fever. This will be a battle between two teams that include the last four number one picks.

Indiana finished 24-20 last season and sixth in the league. It wasn't too bad considering they didn't have star Caitlin Clark for most of the season. Clark only played thirteen games last season, and we should watch for a breakout season.

The two other big pieces returning to the team are veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell and forward Aliyah Boston. Guard Lexie Hull will return as well as guard Sophie Cunningham. All these players will be better with Clark on the floor.

At home, the Fever were 13-9, so just ok. They were good at home the year prior, so we'll just draw the conclusion that it was the Caitlin Clark effect. With her back this season, I think we see a big improvement there with sold out crowds again.

Dallas still in their rebuild with a lot of young faces

The Wings were 10-34 last year and last in the league. They went 2-0 in the preseason this season with their new look team. Arike Ogunbowale and Maddy Siegrist both return to the team. A solid pick up was Alanna Smith who parted ways with the Lynx.

They earned the number one pick in this year's draft after last year's performance. They draft guard Azzi Fudd out of UConn who was Paige Bueckers running mate just a year prior. This team is still in the middle of a rebuild, but you never know.

Last season, they ranked second in the league for pace and third for rebounds. They do need to score the basket more by getting their shooting percentage up. I do think Dallas made some adjustments around Bueckers this offseason and we're going to see a new team.

This is going to be a great game. The last two number one picks are on Dallas and the two before that are on Indiana. It's going to be a battle between Bueckers and Clark. I think we see a big game from both sides and a close game where the Wings cover and Fever win.

If both ladies put on the performance we know they can, it's going to be a movie. I expect the game to go back and forth, each having their moments where they're ahead. If I'm wrong with this, then it's a Fever blowout, so take that for what it's worth.

Give me Paige Bueckers points and assists combined for around -125. She distributed the ball plenty last season and she can score the bucket. I think she's going to have a breakout sophomore season and show people she's going to be one of the best in the league in time.
