We head to Hollywood for tonight's matchup. The Toronto Tempo are in town to face the Los Angeles Sparks for the first time. LA is still looking for their first win, and the Tempo are coming off their first franchise win.
Los Angeles is 0-2 to start the year. They come into this game off a loss to the Fever on Wednesday by a score of 87-78. Guard Kelsey Plum led the way for the Sparks with 25 points for the second game in a row. Plum put up 27 points vs. her former team in their first game of the season.
The team welcomed back long-time player Nneka Ogwumike after a 2-year hideous. She comes back to the team after spending two years in Seattle and it didn't work out. In their first two games, she is averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds per game.
There are some bigs on this team and they need to get going. Forward Dearica Hamby is yet to have a big game, although last game she had 18 points and 8 rebounds. Cameron Brink is also back this season and got some playing time last game. She put up 11 points and 5 rebounds in 18 minutes of play.

Toronto looks to build momentum off first franchise win

Tempo guard Marina Mabrey pulls up and takes a three-point shot with a hand in her face.
Toronto is 1-1 to kick of their inaugural season. They come into this game off a solid win over the Storm on Wednesday. It was the franchise's first win, and they did it with a 13-point margin of victory.
Guard Marina Mabrey was the star of the show. She had a game high 26 points while shotting 6 of 11 from three-point range. When she is not shooting, Mabrey knows how to dish the ball and can rack up the assists as well.
Her counterpart Brittney Sykes had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. She is a great compliment to Mabrey in the back court. Forward Maria Conde had 29 minutes off the bench and scored 16 points with 8 rebounds. She is definitely someone to keep an eye on for props going forward.
This team is still far from finding themselves, so there is still time to see who else emerges as a star. Let's check out the odds and get into the Tempo vs. Sparks picks.

Toronto came out and took care of business last game. They took care of the Storm and honestly, the Sparks don't look much better. This is a great spot for them to get another win and carry that momentum, but we're going to take the points just in case.
I think the Tempo can definitely compete here. If they want to win the game, they need to shut down Kelsey Plum. If they can contain her just a bit, they can definitely, at the least, cover this spread. It will take another big game from Marina Mabrey to get this done.
Give me the veteran Kelsey Plum to get 21 or more points tonight. Her line is too attractive to pass up after two 25+ point performances. Mabrey is going to have her hands full with Plum and if Plum can shoot the three well tonight, this should be an easy one.
