We should see a nice battle down low tonight and I'm here for it. The Chicago Sky will play the Phoenix Mercury at PHX Arena tonight. These two teams last met at the beginning of August and the Mercury won by 16 points.
Phoenix is 23-14 and 4th in a very tight race in the standings. They come into this game off a nice win over the Sparks to make it two in a row. The Mercury are 7-3 in their last ten games and an impressive 12-6 at home this season.
The season is winding down and the Mercury are right where they want to be. Alyssa Thomas has been playing out of her mind recently and this whole season. She's averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists per game this season while also coming off back-to-back triple doubles.
Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper are the other two core players on this team. Sabally leads the team in scoring, averaging 17 points a game while Copper is averaging 15 points per game. If this team can keep clicking, they could have a good shot in the playoffs.

Chicago is eliminated from the playoffs, but will play for pride

Sky forward Angel Reese looks to see if she can get open to receive a pass.
The Sky are 9-28 and the second to worst team in the league. They have already been eliminated from playoff contention. Chicago comes into this game on a two-game losing streak while going 2-8 in their last ten games and are 4-13 are the road.
Angel Reese is having an outstanding year. She is averaging a team leading 14 points and a league leading 12.4 rebounds per game. Her shooting has finally come together, making her a huge threat out there every game.
The lack of depth on this team is why they're not good. Kamilla Cardoso and Reese cannot do it all and need help from shooter. Getting Ariel Atkins was not the answer to that problem and losing Courtney Vandersloot for the year was also not in the plans.
Chicago has a tendency to hang around in games, especially ones with large spreads. Phoenix has a lot to play for though, so this could be the third beat down of the year that the Mercury give the Sky. Let's check out the odds and get into the Sky vs Mercury picks.

With the way the Mercury have handled the Sky this season plus the playoff implications, I have to go with Phoenix to cover. Every game is now huge for the Mercury as they could end up third if they win but slip to sixth if they lose a few games.
The home court advantage is another reason I like with Phoenix. Their 12 wins at home this season is twice the amount of home losses, so they like being home. This is also a game where they are much better than their opponent, so it creates more of a buzz for the Mercury.
I can't not go with Alyssa Thomas everything. You can't go wrong with rebounds or assists given her last few games and her history vs. the Sky. I like the over 19.5 rebounds and assists combined for -114. She just crushed this line with 28 and 31 in her last two games and 20 in her last game vs. Chicago.
On the other side, I like Kamilla Cardoso to get 14 or more points for -104. She hit the line in her last three straight and five out of six games. Cardoso hit in two of the three games vs Phoenix this year, just missing in the last game. She is continuing her momentum from Reese being out and it's still going, so I'm riding with her.
