Two teams competing to stay in the playoffs face off. The Indiana Fever will take on the Golden State Valkyries at the Chase Center tonight. These two teams last played back in July, and the Valkyries won by 19 points.
Indiana is 21-18 this season and are currently sixth in the standings. They come into this game on a two-game winning streak and still without Caitlin Clark. The Fever 4-6 in their last ten games and 10-9 on the road this year.
Caitlin Clark remains out with a groin injury. She has now missed considerable time, but her team has held their own. They have played pretty much .500 basketball without her. It will be interesting to see if she returns for the playoffs in five games.
Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston have been playing well. Both ladies have stepped up in Clark's absence. It's going to take a team effort for the Fever to beat the Valkyries as their collective spread out offense is hard to stop when so many players can contribute.

Golden State looks to make it three in a row to protect the eighth seed

Valkyries guard Kate Martin goes to make a move around Fever guard Caitlin Clark.
The Valkyries are 20-18 this year and holding onto the last playoff spot by two games. Golden State is also only a half game out of the seventh seed and could catch Seattle. They come into this game off a dominant win over the Mystics last night and are 6-4 in their last ten games.
Plesant surprise for the league is this Golden State team. Heck of a first year out of them and they have played half the year without one of the best players. Kayle Thornton went out for the year with a right knee injury back in July.
One of the things that makes this team really good is they have depth. The minutes tend to get spread out around the players, giving each an opportunity to shine. Players like Janelle Salaun and Veronica Burton have stepped up for this team.
They play decent defense as well. Ranking fifth in defensive rating and fourth in rebounds this season. Golden State also ranks fifth best for turnovers per game. Indy has been a little unpredictable without Clark, so it'll be interesting to see what team the Valkyries have to play.
Let's check out the odds and get into the Fever vs. Valkyries picks.

Golden State plays well at home with a 11-7 record. They looked great last night but did play a completely different team. The Valkyries are also playing with a little more desperation, trying to hold on to that last spot.
I like them on the spread because this should be a close game. Any time after a blowout, I feel like that team comes back down to earth the next game. I think we see some of that here, but my gut thinks the Valkyries take this game.
Aliyah Boston has been on fire as of lately. I like her points line for 14 or more for -114. She is coming off back-to-back 20-point games and has hit in eight straight games. It may be bait but I don't care, the numbers speak to me.
The other play I like is Janelle Salaun to get 6 or more rebounds. She is coming off back-to-back games hitting the number and hit in her last three out of four games. There are bigs on Indy, but not really on Golden State, so she'll be in the mix.
