It's been a great start to the WNBA season and we're only a week in. Tonight we have the defending champion Las Vegas Aces visiting the Connecticut Sun for the second game of a back-to-back. As we know, this could be a very lopsided matchup if one team isn't careful.
Connecticut is 0-3 and off a to a terrible start this season. This team has been stripped of all its players since last season to now. Stars Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner both left the team as well as Brionna Jones. They Marina Mabrey last season, but she was lost in the expansion draft to Toronto.
They were able to bring in center Brittney Grinner in the offseason. Right as the season started, the Sun picked up guard Hailey Van Lith off waivers. Forward Diamond Miller was also a new addition to the squad.
Returning players are last year's first round draft pick Aneesah Morrow. Morrow has the chance to be the focal point of this team and make a name for herself this season. They also retained center Olivia Nelson-Ododa and guard Saniya Rivers.
This will be a tough one for the Connecticut to get. They rank in the bottom of the league in most offensive categories except pace. The Sun rank first in pace so far but aren't doing anything with it. It's going to take a lot for them to make a turn around, but it's still early.

Las Vegas riding momentum off winning their last two games

Aces center A'ja Wilson fakes the defender and goes up for a layup.
The Aces come into this game 2-1 on the season and off a big win. They come into this game off a 29-point win over the Sun on Wednesday. It was the second game in a row for the Aces where they looked like their dominant self from last season.
A'ja Wilson had her first twenty-point double double of the season. She had nineteen points in her previous two games, but she finally cleaned the boards. Guards Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young are off to solid starts, but there's one play standing out.
Returning to the WNBA, guard Chennedy Carter has returned with a bang. Carter is averaging 20 points per game off the bench. If she keeps this up, she's definitely going to be in the running for sixth player of the year.
Last game was honestly a breeze, and they'll look to replicate to that same performance. Connecticut should continue to struggle, so let's see how this goes. Let's check out the odds and get into the Aces vs. Sun picks.

Yeah, we're betting on more of the same. I expect we see another beat down here. Teams can make adjustments from film, but I don't think it's enough for Connecticut to win. They're just simply out matched.
Vegas should come out and control the entire game again. This team isn't the defending champs for no reason, plus they're playing a team with practically no talent. The talent they have is still developing and is going to need some veteran leadership to be good long term.
Give Chennedy Carter to get over her points line. It will probably be around 18 points, but I think she clears it again. She's been a huge part of the last two games and if they get a big lead again, she's going to get the playing time.
