Our second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup also happens South of the Border as South Korea and Czechia go head to head in Guadalajara. These two squads are neck and neck to finish second in this group after Mexico, so if all goes the way the oddsmakers project, this match could be for the silver in Group A. In my opinion, were going to see three teams go through from Group A (Mexico, South Korea and Czechia), but tonight could be the difference in getting an easier of Round of 32 matchup.
Czechia has plenty of experience in their lineup. Patrik Schick had five goals in eight World Cup qualifying matchups, and scored 16 goals for Bayer Leverkusen this year. Tomáš Souček has made 90 caps for the Czechia senior team, and should add at least four more patrolling the midfield. But will they bring enough offense to get by South Korea tonight?

I lean with the South Korean attack a little bit more in this spot, plus their defense was slightly more impressive right before the World Cup. They shutout El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago in their tune ups before the competition began, and went on an offensive tear during the AFC World Cup Qualifiers. While this might be a low scoring game, South Korea has the upside on offense to find the back of the net.
Czechia allowed goals from Guatemala and Kosovo in their friendly tune ups, while needing penalty kicks to beat both Ireland and Denmark in the World Cup Qualifying Tournament, after playing to 2-2 draws. While there is much tougher competition in Europe, the Czechs barely qualified for the World Cup while South Korea left no doubt. They could be a sleeper to upset some teams in the knockout rounds, and a win tonight would set them up for a massive tournament going forward.
Lastly, the Czechs are playing in their first World Cup since 2006 in Germany. The Mexican heat mixed with the entire roster making their first appearance in the biggest stage, they might be a bit shell shocked against South Korea.
