Fabian Ruiz found the back of the net for Spain against Belgium in the Quarterfinals. Will he start against France?

France has won all six matches of the World Cup, and they've done so in 90 minutes in every contest. Sure, it took them about 60 minutes to get things going in their opener against Senegal, but after that, the floodgates have opened. After not scoring for the first 60 minutes, the French still netted three in the last 30 against the African side. They netted 13 total goals in their first four matches, and are on a three match shutout streak as well, having not allowed a goal in the knockout rounds yet. But they will have their hands full with Spain.

The Spanish are hungry. Fresh off a 2024 EURO Title, their next goal was taking down the entire world. But they'll have to beat the best of the best to get there. After five straight shutouts to start this tournament, they finally conceded to Belgium in the quarterfinals. However, the defense has been rock solid, the offense seems to be waking up, and regardless, they are winning matches, which is the name of the game for this competition. Just keep advancing.

Best Bet: France/Spain Under 2.5 (-108) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

I will be backing the 90 minute draw in this match. I do not endorse an under 2.5 for plus money that includes stoppage time. Instead, I will gladly pay the -108 for my bet to settle in regulation. To me, this has a 1-1 draw written all over it. France's attack is great, and they have plenty of options if you somehow slow down Kylian Mbappe. But Spain's back line has arguably been the best in the tournament.

Not only are they allowing just 0.17 goals per match this tournament, on average they concede just 0.33 expected goals as well. When facing a team like France, you know their attack is coming, it's just a matter of when. Spain should brace for impact, as a low scoring match benefits them, making it much easier for a 1-0, or 2-0 victory, just like they have been doing.

However, France's defense has also been incredible, and personally I think Spain will play possession rather than be aggressive on offense. If they attack immediately and miss, they give the ball right back to Mbappe. But if they possess the ball, tire out the French's legs, and then spend 5-7 minutes on the build up before a legit chance at goal, not only have they chewed up plenty of clock. But they kept the ball away from Mbappe and the rest of this French attack. You can't score if you don't have the ball.

This will be an electric game, but I just don't see very many balls ending up in the back of the net in this semifinal match between two stellar defenses.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+550)
