How far will Gyökeres lead Sweden in the 2026 FIFA World Cup? - World Cup Picks

FIFA World Cup

Another full slate of FIFA World Cup action is happening on Sunday, as Groups E and F begin play. One of today's matches seems a little lopsided, but the other three should be highly competitive and very entertaining. Let's get right into our favorite World Cup picks for today's matches!

Check out the best odds on the market and tons of picks in different soccer leagues across the world.

I do not have a wager in this match as I feel that there is no value on the board. Germany should annihilate Curaçao but I am not willing to bet on them to win by four goals like the spread suggests.

Netherlands vs. Japan FIFA World Cup Picks

Best Bet: Netherlands/Japan Under 2.5 (-110) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

We are taking the under as the Netherlands and Japan go head to head tonight. Now, we do have stake in both of these teams to finish in the top two spots of Group F, so ideally a draw wouldn't be terrible. However, the Dutch in me will be cheering for the Orange. I think this is a low scoring game, with the Netherlands winning either 1-0 or 2-0.

Japan just lost Wataru Endo, who is a main playmaker for them in the midfield. I worry about this team creating chances without him on the pitch, especially with a Dutch defense led by Virgil Van Dijk. The Netherlands quietly have one of the best midfields in this entire tournament, and I think they are incredibly focused.

While this match likely determines the winner of Group F, I see the Dutch being ready to go and leaving no doubt, as they are the clear better team on paper.

Ivory Coast vs. Ecuador FIFA World Cup Picks

Best Bet: Ivory Coast Draw No Bet (+117) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Check out my full breakdown of this wager here. The Ivory Coast will play aggressive against an Ecuadorian team who is very good at earning shutouts, but not very great at scoring themselves. This is going to be a cagey, low scoring contest, but I think the Ivory Coast will be able to at least sneak one in to get us a winner for plus money (and push potential).

Best Bet: Sweden Team Total Over 1.5 (+120) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook

Sweden's moneyline is playable at -110, but I decided to get a little greedy and take their team total for plus money instead. I do not see Tunisia scoring at all, as they should be forced to defend for most of the match. If that's the case, I'll tip my cap to Sweden if they screw us and win 1-0, but that shouldn't happen.

Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak are two of the scariest strikers in the EPL, and they play for the same country. Yes, the Swedish defense can be iffy at times, but that just encourages them to be more aggressive on offense. In this opening match, I see them coming fired up after scoring three goals in two friendlies prior to the tournament. They also scored six total goals (three in each match) during the UEFA Playoff Tournament to secure their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
