It all comes down to one final match in Miami for Group K. Two of the best teams in this entire tournament go head to head for the top spot in their quad on Saturday, the final day of group stage matches. Colombia leads this group with six points after winning both matches, while Portugal are behind them with four. Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal looked incredible in their bounce back match. But now they face a top 20 team in the world.
Colombia is in the driver's seat, folks. All they need to do is not lose. Sounds easy enough. But when facing a guy like CR7, alongside Bruno Fernandes and the rest of this Portuguese squad, it might be easier said than done. Portugal did not look like themselves in their opening match against DR Congo, playing to a 1-1 draw after scoring in the sixth minute.
However, they turned it on by beating Uzbekistan 5-0 in a bounce back. Colombia has dominated both matches, beating the Uzbeks 3-1, covering the spread in stoppage time. Plus they beat Congo 1-0, but dominated the stat sheet as they put up nine shots on frame. Will we see a similar offensive effort against Portugal?

I don't think Colombia sits back and waits for the Portugal attack in this match, but they could. They control this match. The pressure is on Portugal who needs a victory, while the Colombians just need a positive result. The difference between first and second place in this group is either playing a lowly third place team in the Round of 32, or potentially seeing England, Croatia, or Ghana, all of whom are very scary. Plus, the first place country ends up on the much easier side of the bracket (in my humble opinion).
It's clearly in both team's best interest to try and win this game, thus securing an easier route going forward. Colombia is more than capable of doing just that. They beat and drew with Argentina in their World Cup Qualifiers, and nearly beat Brazil, who needed a PK and a stoppage time goal to overcome Luis Diaz and company.
If the scenario were different, so would my wager. But with Colombia only needing a point to win this group, I will certainly be backing them to hold off Ronaldo and friends.
