Welcome to the 2026 Winter Olympics! We start the hockey slate off a game from Group B with Slovakia vs. Finland. The Fins have a bit of advantage because they played in the four nations tournament together last year.
Finland comes in packed with offense. Guys like Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonan and Anton Lundell lead the way. All three guys are having solid years and played great last year together. Rantanen and Lehkonan are former teammates as well from the Colorado Avalanche.
Their defense has the pair our of Dallas in Miro Heiskanen and Esa Lindell as well as Niko Mikkola. The rest of their defense comes from a mix of guys all from the NHL. Finland's goaltenders could be a backbone if they click.
Predators goalie Juuse Saros leads the way for this team. Joonas Korpisalo and Kevin Lankinen are the other two goalies for the team. All three goalies have experience playing in tournaments over the years, although this may be their biggest stage yet.

Slovakia will try to contend with the big boys this Olympics

Probably going to be a tough go for Slovakia. They made their first Olympic appearance in 1994. When they got to 2006 and 2010, they placed fifth and fourth place after not breaking the top five ever. Their best final was in 2022 when they took home the bronze medal.
This team is mainly made up of countrymen from the homeland. Some of the players from the NHL are Juraj Slafkovsky, Simon Nemec and Martin Fehervary. The rest are all from Slovakian leagues and is always fun to see if a star is born on the world's biggest stage.
In net, they have Samuel Hilavaj, Adam Gajan and Stanislav Skorvanek. Back to my last point – could be a time for someone to shine and make a name for themselves. Let's check out the odds and get into the Slovakia vs. Finland picks.

I like for the Fins to go crazy. This team looked really good in the four nations tournament, and you know they're pumped to be back together. This is also a way bigger of a deal than the four nations, so getting a medal is top priority.
Break the six goals should be very doable. Finland has a lot of offensive fire power that should honestly break the total by themselves. I'm not really sure what we get out of Slovakia, but they could get a goal or two to help as well. Probably don't need to say, but I think Finland wins (lol).
I like for Mikko Rantanen to get 4 or more shots on goal. I also think he scores one so take them both straight. He leads this team offensively and is such a problem for defenses. Slovakia is really going to have an answer for him with all the talent he'll be surrounded by.
