We have what could be a very competitive game on our hands. Team Germany will take on Team USA out of Group C. A win for USA gives them a bye in the knockout round and would put Germany in the middle of the seeding.
USA has won it's to first matches against Latvia on Thursday and Denmark just yesterday. They beat Latvia by four goals and Denmark by three goals. The offense looked great in both games, and the goaltending was better in the first game than the second.
Goalie Jeremy Swayman let in some questionable goals yesterday. The first goal was off his own defenseman through his five hole and the second was a rocket from center ice over his shoulder. Denmark's third goal wasn't pretty either, so he needs to play better.
The offense as going insane. Goals from Brady Tkachuk, Jack Eichel and Jack Hughes – the offense looked fantastic. There is a lot of intensity from this team and their playing with their hearts on their sleeves. Last year's four nations loss is really motivating them for Olympic gold.

Germany will try to slow down the USA offense to contend

Team Germany players Tim Stutzle, Leon Draisaitl and Moritz Seider celebrating after scoring a goal.
Germany is 1-1 in their first two games. They looked solid in their first game vs. Denmark, winning 3-1. They controlled that entire game and never played from behind. Draisaitl scored the first goal and Stutzle scored the next two.
Their second game vs. Latvia was a different story. Germany got out to a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period and proceeded to let up three goals in the third period. A late third period goal from Tim Stutzle wasn't enough and they lost 4-3.
There was no defense in their second game and that's not going to fly this game. This will be the obvious big test for Germany so far playing USA. They'll need to bring the best game they have and be happy it's not an elimination game. Let's check out the odds and get into the Germany vs. USA picks.

If you've been following along, you might be rolling your eyes, but we're going with the same formula here. I think USA wins this game, but I think both teams are going to score more. The odds on the over 6.5 total goals in good value and protects from who wins or a puck line.
There's no doubt in my mind that USA puts up at least 4 goals, so it will come down to Germany. After watching how they defended Denmark and Germany being a better team, I see Germany netting at least two if not three. I hate even writing that, but we have to keep it real.
I like Jack Eichel to get 4 or more shots on goal and for Brady Tkachuk to score again. Both guys have been automatic the first two games and are playing so well together on the first line. Give me Brady for 3 or more shots on goal as well. We're riding the wagons.
