Back with more Olympic hockey and we head to the knockout round. Team Czechia will take on Team Denmark in the first round. These two did not play because they were in different groups, but Czechia has won the last two matchups.
Czechia went 1-1-1 in the grouping stage of the Olympics. They took down France in their second game 6-3 but were crushed by Canada in their first game and just lost in OT to the Swiss in their third game. Today they'll be tested by Denmark to continue to try to win a medal.
In their win, David Pastrnak and Martin Necas came to life, both scoring and assisting. This team really didn't have an answer for Team Canada, but most don't with all the talent that team has. Losing to the Swiss was big for the confidence though after a late goal to force OT.
In net, we should see Karel Vejmelka. He started vs. France when they won the game. This game against Denmark is very attainable, but it's going to have to have a big effort in goal.

Denmark will give it all they have vs. rival Czechia today

Denmark forwards Lars Eller and Nicklas Jensen move the puck into Germany's zone.
Team Denmark went 1-2-0 in the grouping stage. They were in Group C, so like Czechia, they were in a group with the top team. Denmark will look to build off their win last game vs. Latvia on Sunday.
This team isn't packed with talent from top to bottom. It's going to take all they have to overcome Czechia and their offense. Defensively, they have allowed a minimum of 3 goals in games they lost and allowed 2 goals in the game they won.
History is not on Denmark's side with the last matchups vs. Czechia. They're already going to be playing with their hearts on their sleeves, but now it's do or die. Let's check out the odds and get into the Czechia vs. Denmark picks.

I honestly think this will be a better game than expected. Czechia is definitely the better team, but I think Denmark will hang around. It will most likely be a late empty netter for the Czechs to cover the puck line.
Denmark has such a weak offense that can be clamped down on. As long as Czechia gets out to an early lead, then I see smart hockey being played to protect that lead. These guys wait years to play on this stage and don't want to be the one to screw it up.
Playing that sort of game will help kill the clock and keep the score down. Czechia will probably score 2-3 goals, but I don't see this total going to six. I like for Martin Necas to record two or more points today. He has to be involved with Pastrnak if they want to win.
