Tonight, we have a serious matchup on our hands between two of the best in the East. The Detroit Red Wings will take on the Carolina Hurricanes at the Lenovo Center. These two teams last met in early January and the Wings won 4-3.
Detroit is 34-19-6 this season and second in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off an overtime win vs. the Senators on Thursday night. The Wings are 5-3-2 in their last ten games and 16-9-4 on the road this year.
Captain Dylan Larkin got the game winning goal on Thursday. Larkin is just returning to the team as an Olympic gold medal winner. The game winner was Larkin's second goal of the game, so hopefully the rest of the team wakes up tonight.
Their defense was solid on Thursday, only allowing one goal in the first period. Detroit allowed more shots and lost more faceoffs, so they were out played in those aspects. Goaltender John Gibson looked great in the teams return and is expected to get the start again tonight.

Carolina will be a tough test for Detroit tonight on the road

Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov celebrates after scoring a goal in front of the home crowd.
The Hurricanes are 37-15-6 this year and are first in the Metro Division. They come into this game after a 5-4 win over the Lightning on Thursday. Carolina is 8-0-2 in their last 10 games and 22-8-2 at home.
This team is scary on offense. They rank in the top six of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Carolina's power play ranks fourteenth and they could use some work on their shooting percentage. Overall, though, they're fast paced and talented.
Their defense has been really good for years now. They rank in the top sixth of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game as well. The Hurricanes commit four penalties per game and kill off 80% of them.
In net, we're expected to see Brandon Bussi. He is 23-3-1 this season with a 2.19 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Bussi has come on the scene as one of the best goalies in the league. Let's check out the odds and get into the Wings vs. Hurricanes picks.

This is going to be a great game vs. two teams who are having great years. I lean with the Hurricanes to get the win, but we're going to take the under on the game total goals. This should become a little bit of a chess match and there's great goaltending.
These goalies are going to be the difference maker. Either they take us home or leave us in the street – no in between. I think both are going to be ready and have solid games to keep this total under 7 goals.
I like the way Dylan Larkin is playing right now. Give me his 3 or more shots on goal and ladder it to 4 shots as well. He has been playing with such swagger since the gold medal win and he's two goal game shows he's still buzzin'.
