Oh boy, do we have a good one on our hands. The top teams in the Atlantic Division, the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens, take the ice tonight. These two teams met early in the year, and the Canadiens won 5-1.
Detroit is 26-15-4 this season and tied for first in the Atlantic with Montreal. They come into this game on a two-game winning streak after a win over the Canucks on Thursday. The Wings are 7-2-1 in their last ten games, 11-7-3 on the road and 7-3-2 in divisional matches.
This team has shocked the league with their current success. Their offense only ranks in the middle of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Detroit has a solid power play that ranks sixth in the league, and they keep finding ways to win.
Their defense is kind of the same in regard to ranks in the league. They fall in the middle of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game as well as their penalty kill. Detroit commits about four penalties per game, killing off about 80% of their penalties.
Goalie John Gibson will be between the pipes tonight. He is 15-9-1 this year with a 2.86 GAA and a .898 save percentage. Gibson will look for revenge after that bad loss earlier in the season to the Canadiens.

Montreal tries to make it four in a row tonight at home

Canadiens forward Cole Caufield celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal at home.
The Canadiens are 25-13-6 this year and are tied first for in the Atlantic with Detroit. They come into this game on a three-game winning streak after a huge win over the two-time defending cup champs, the Florida Panthers. Montreal is 7-1-2 in their last ten games, 13-4-5 at home and 8-4-1 in divisional games.
Another team whose success has surprised the league. Their offense has been on point, ranking fourth in the league for goals scored per game. Montreal doesn't shoot much, ranking in the bottom of the league, but they have the second-best shooting percentage in the league.
Defense is kind of opposite. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals allowed, but in the top ten for shots on goal allowed per game. The Canadiens power play is much better than the penalty kill and they commit over five penalties per game.
In net, we're going to see Jacob Fowler. He is 4-2-2 this season with a 2.37 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Wings vs. Canadiens picks.

I think we see a great, hard-fought game. Both goalies have been pretty good in net and we're getting a six and half total. Both teams are really going to want to win this one and I think we see a big defense game and the total go under.
The win will be huge for either squad and keep their winning streaks alive. It will also give the winner sole possession of first place in the division. We're going to see a chess match here as neither team wants to be the one to make the mistake and give up a goal.
Give me Lucas Raymond to record an assist for +122. He has 34 assists on the year and four in his last six games. Raymond is coming into this game off a goal and an assist last game, and I expect him to continue that play.
I also like Mortiz Seider to record 3 or more blocked shots for +105. He's coming off a game with six blocks and has hit in five of his last seven games. Seider leads this defense and has no problem laying his body out for the team.
