We have two teams from the Western Conference battling tonight. The Dallas Stars head to Cali to take on the Anaheim Ducks. These two teams met last month, and the Stars laid down a beating, 8-3.
Dallas is 27-10-9 this season and second in the Central Division. They come into this game off a win over the Kings last night. The Stars are 3-3-4 in their last ten games and an impressive 15-4-6 on the road.
The Central Division has emerged has one of the toughest. First place is a little out of reach currently, but the Stars are battling the Wild for the second spot. They currently lead Minnesota by two points in the standings.
This team packs the offensive punch. They rank third in the league for goals scored per game and have the second-best power play in the league. Dallas doesn't shoot the puck the much, ranking second worst for shots on goal per game, but they have the best shooting percentage to make up for it.
Defense and goaltending have been solid. The Stars rank sixth in goals allowed and fifteenth in shots on goal allowed per game. Goalie Casey DeSmith is expected to get the start. DeSmith is 10-2-5 this season with a 2.48 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

Anaheim completely lost after hot start to the season

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Pavel Mintyukov and teammates celebrate after scoring a goal.
The Ducks are 21-21-3 this year and are sixth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game on a nine-game losing streak after another loss to the Sabres on Saturday. Anaheim is 1-8-1 in their last ten games and 12-8-1 at home this season.
It's been a rough road for the Ducks all of a sudden. They started of the season on fire, leading the Pacific Division right away. Since then, it has been a downward spiral, falling five spots and nine points out of first place.
This offense is almost opposite of the Dallas. They don't score a lot of goal, their power play is not very good, and they shoot the heck out of the puck, but with a terrible shooting percentage. Not really in their favor going into this game tonight.
Defense has been a struggle this season for Anaheim. They allow the most goals in the league per game and are in the bottom of the league for shots on goal allowed per game. Goalie Lukas Dostal is expected in net tonight. He is 13-12-2 this season with a 3.25 GAA and a .887 save percentage.

Dallas Stars vs. Anaheim Ducks Picks and Prediction

Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal hangs his head after allowing a goal to the Stars.

Goals, goals, goals – that's what we're rooting for. I think we see a lot of them like the last game they played. Dostal has a high GAA this season and did not look good last game vs. the Stars. Dallas' offense is going to pour it on and should put up around 5-6 goals themselves.
Casey DeSmith looked ok vs. the Ducks last game, still allowing three goals. He should do more of the same, especially if he has a ton of offense to support him. This will help the game break that total for us.
Give me Dostal to record under his saves like, that will probably be around 25 saves. He didn't even make it to tens shots last game before being pulled and I could see the same thing again. The Stars also don't shoot a ton, so that is another reason I lean the under saves.
I also like Jason Robertson in this game for his shots and to score a goal. He has 4 shots on goal last game and I'm going to ride that. Robertson also had 2 goals in that game and has scored in back-to-back games. Definitely worth the sprinkle.
