We head to the sunshine state for tonight's matchup. The Florida Panthers will host the San Jose Sharks at Amerant Bank Arena. These two teams met back in November, and the Sharks came out with the win 3-1.
Florida is 25-19-3 this season and seventh in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a win over the Capitals on Saturday. The Panthers are 5-4-1 in their last ten games and 14-9-3 at home this season.
Not the most ideal start for the Panthers. Their two best players, Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov, have both been out for extended time with injuries. The injury bug has hit them hard with Brad Marchand and Seth Jones both on the IR as well.
So far this season, the offense has struggled, ranking only nineteenth in goals scored and twenty second in power play conversion. Florida ranks tenth in shots on goal per game, but twenty first in shooting percentage, so a little wild.
They have clamped down on defense, ranking in the top ten for shots on goal allowed and penalty kill. Goaltending has been an issue as they rank twenty fifth in goals allowed per game. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky will get the start tonight. He is 19-13-1 this season with a 3.09 GAA and a .875 save percentage.

San Jose will keep grinding it out to hold a playoff spot

Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal.
San Jose is 24-20-3 this year and are fourth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Red Wings on Friday night. The Sharks are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and 11-11-0 on the road this season.
If you've followed along with me this season, you know I love this team. They're a bunch of kids with some veterans out there just having fun. It's working because if the season ended today, they'd own the second wild card spot and be on their way to the playoffs.
Macklin Celebrini is all the talk for this Sharks team. The second-year player has 24 goals and 48 assists so far, ranking third in the league in total points and second in the league for assists. The former number one pick is proving to be the franchise player they drafted.
Their defense struggles, so any improvements there can really carry this team. In net, we're going to see Alex Nedelijkovic for the Sharks. He is 8-8-2 this season with a 3.06 GAA and a .891 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Sharks vs. Panthers picks.

San Jose Sharks vs. Florida Panthers Picks and Prediction

Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand is mobbed by teammates after scoring a goal.

For some reason, I think we see a slower pace game. We definitely see some goals, but I don't think they break the over. Both goaltenders can play when they're on and neither goalie faced the other this season.
The goaltending should make a difference. Even though Bob's numbers aren't the greatest, he's still an elite goal playing vs. a very young team. He can very easily become a brick will and shutdown the Sharks offense.
Florida's offense has been almost dismantled at this rate from injuries. This gives Nedelijkovic a great chance to hold the Panthers back, missing so many key pieces. They do shoot a lot, so I'll be taking Nedelijkovic for over his saves line.
Another play I like is Macklin Celebrini to record 4 or more shots on goal for +104. Kid is on a tear this season and as of late. He's hit the mark in his last two games and last seven out of eight games. He scored vs. Florida last game, so you know we're sprinkling that.
