New York is covered in snow and no better day than today for some hockey. The New York Rangers will travel across town to take on the New York Islanders. These two teams met in the beginning of November and the Islanders won 5-0.
The Islanders are 20-13-4 this season and are third in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Devils on Tuesday before the break. New York is 6-3-1 in their last ten games, 11-7-2 at home and 5-4-2 in divisional matchups.
Bo Horvat is due back tonight after missing five games. Jonathan Drouin and Emil Heineman are scheduled to return to the lineup with Anthony Duclair being a healthy scratch. The Islanders could use all the offense they can get with the way they tend to struggle.
Their defense has been pretty solid. They rank eighth in goals allowed and eleventh in penalty kill. That penalty kill is decent considering they are averaging four penalties per game. Goalie David Rittich is going to get the start. He is 8-3-2 this season with a 2.42 GAA and a .913 save percentage.

The Rangers are 19-16-4 this year and fifth in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Capitals on Tuesday. New York is 4-4-2 in their last ten games, 14-6-1 on the road and 5-4-0 in divisional games.
The Rangers have struggled at home, so we'll see if the change of scenery helps. Their offense is ranking in the bottom of the league though for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Although they haven't been the best, they are quietly hanging around in a tight division.
Defense has definitely been solid. They rank in the top half of the league for goals allowed and shot on goal allowed per game. The goaltending has also been solid and plays a part in the low total for goals allowed per game.
Goaltender Igor Shesterkin will be in net. He is 16-11-3 this year with a 2.55 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into our Rangers vs. Islanders picks.

I'm going with my boys here. They are coming in after stealing a win on Tuesday and off rest. I think this team is buzzing and will also have their firepower in Bo Horvat back. Should be a barn burner but give me the Islanders to pull out the win.
I don't think we see another shutout, but Rittich has been playing well. He should give the struggling Rangers offense a problem, which should give the Islanders the edge. The Islanders have faced Shesterkin plenty of time now that they have plenty of tape to watch.
Horvat should have a good game in his return. I like his 3 or more shots on goal for -130. Might as well take advantage of this line before it's completely juiced after a game or so. He had 5 shots on goal and 2 goals in the last game back in November. Sprinkle on the anytime goal too.
