A good old rivalry game, who's ready? The Nashville Predators will face the Dallas Stars tonight at American Airlines Arena. These two teams last met in early November, and the Stars won a close game 5-4.
Dallas is 35-14-9 this season and third in the Central Division. They come into this game off a nice win on Wednesday over the Kraken. The Stars are 8-2-0 in their last ten games, 17-7-3 at home and 12-4-1 in divisional matchups.
The Stars opened the scoring vs. the Kraken with a little more than a minute left in the first period with a goal by Wyatt Johnston. They never trailed from there and followed that up with three goals in the second period. Seattle scored almost seven minutes into the third period but that was it.
It's a crazy time for the Stars because the Avalanche came back down to earth. They are six points out of first place and one point out of second. A win here could put them in that second spot in the division.
Goalie Jake Oettinger is expected to get the start. He is 23-10-4 this season with a 2.70 GAA and a .897 save percentage. Oetty is just returning after being a part of the gold medal men's hockey team, even though he barely played.

Nashville looks to stay in the Wild Card race with a win tonight

Predators forwards Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos celebrate with teammates after scoring a goal.
The Predators are 27-24-7 this year and fifth in the Central Division. They come into this game off a win on Thursday over the Blackhawks. Nashville is 4-3-3 in their last ten games, 11-12-4 on the road and 9-9-3 in divisional games.
Nashville has battled back and are in the playoff hunt. The wild card is their only chance because of how big the gap is from the top three seeds in the division. Utah is right ahead of them in the standings and so are the Kraken.
On paper, the team doesn't rank very high, but that's ok. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored, but towards the top for shots on goal per game and power play conversion. On defense, they struggle ranking in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game.
In net, we're expected to see Juuse Saros. He is 21-17-5 this season with a 3.05 GAA and a .892 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Predators vs. Stars picks.

This should be an easy one for the Stars given some circumstances. They're so good at home, they have a great history vs. the Predators and are playing really good hockey winning their last seven games.
I do think it's going to be a close game and probably go under the total. Both teams need the wins and are going to want to play smart hockey. Even game counts so much now that it's pretty much do or die time.
For props, I like all the stars players. Give me Mikko Rantanen and Wyatt Johnston to get 3 or more shots on goal each. I think Johnston has a great chance of scoring to make it his second straight game.
