Both Conferences are packed as we head to the end of the season. The Edmonton Oilers will take on the San Jose Sharks tonight at the SAP Center at San Jose. These two teams last played each other a few weeks ago and the Oilers won 5-3.
Edmonton is 39-29-10 this season and currently first in the Pacific Division. They come into this game on a two-game losing streak after another loss to the Mammoth yesterday in overtime. The Oilers are 6-3-1 in their last ten games, 18-15-6 on the road and 14-6-3 in divisional games.
The Oilers currently own the first spot in the Pacific due to tie breaker. Anaheim is tied with them currently, so every game matters. It is pretty much set that Edmonton will get one of the three seeds from the division.
Even without Leon Draisaitl, the offense has still been cranking. They're 5-1-1 in their last seven games and won four in a row at to start that off. I don't see them having much trouble getting the offense going tonight vs. this Sharks defense.
Goalie Connor Ingram is expected to get the start. He is 14-9-2 this season with a 2.78 GAA and a .895 save percentage. Ingram will need to be ready for this young, fast San Jose offense.

San Jose fighting to make the playoffs with games in hand

Sharks defenseman Nick Leddy passes the puck across ice in the offensive zone.
The Sharks are 37-32-7 this year and fifth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a win over the Blackhawks on Monday night. San Jose is 5-4-1 in their last ten games, 21-13-5 at home and 10-10-3 in divisional games.
This team is young and crafty. They currently have about two games in hand to a few teams that they are competing with for a wild card spot. The Sharks are currently 3 points out of that second wild card spot but have division rival LA Kings a point ahead of them as well.
Macklin Celebrini has been insane this season. In his sophomore year, he has 41 goals and 66 assists. The next closest player on his team in points is 57 points – just about half! This kid is the definition of carrying a team and a serious Hart Trophy candidate.
In net, we're expected to see Yaroslav Askarov. He is 21-18-3 this season with a 3.56 GAA and a .886 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Oilers vs. Sharks picks.

Edmonton Oilers vs. San Jose Sharks Picks and Prediction

Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal vs. the Oilers this year.

It's going to be a battle tonight. The Oilers are obviously more talented, but the Sharks aren't going to go down without a fight. That's why I'm taking the over tonight and think we see a lot of what we did last time they played.
Goaltending isn't really the strong point for either team. This is another factor in why I think this game goes over. The Sharks also don't play very good defense vs. this crazy offense. I think we possibly see a score right around what we did last time.
For props, I like Celebrini to get 4 or more shots on goal and to record 2 or more points. This team is going to need to score and he's going to be all over it. McDavid has also been turning it up lately and his 4 or more shots on goal looks good too.
