It's a crazy place to be in the Eastern Conference. We have a battle out of the Atlantic Division tonight between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Ottawa Senators. These two teams just played a little of a week ago and the Lightning won 4-2.
Tampa Bay is 48-23-6 this season and currently holding the first spot in the Atlantic. They come into this game off a loss to another division rival, the Buffalo Sabres. The Lightning are 6-2-2 in their last ten games, 23-10-5 on the road and 14-7-1 in divisional games.
It was a tough loss for the Bolts the other night as they could've separated themselves from the Sabres even more. They have secured a playoff spot either way, so that is most important. Now it's just time to see if they'll play a wild card spot or the third seed in the Atlantic.
They quietly moved their way right up the standings without anyone noticing. This team has extensive playoff history and still a pretty full roster of guys who've been here awhile. They will most definitely be a force to be reckon with.
Goalie Jonas Johansson is expected to get the start. He is 11-9-2 this season with a 3.04 GAA and a .886 save percentage. Starter Andrei Vasilevskiy will be getting the rest tonight. Vasi is currently the front runner for the Vezina Trophy this year.

Ottawa will try to hang on to their playoff spot tonight at home

Senators forward Ridly Greig tries to the bang the puck passed Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.
The Senators are 40-27-10 this season and fifth in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a big win over the Hurricanes on Sunday. Ottawa is 6-3-1 in their last ten games, 20-12-6 at home and 9-8-6 in divisional games.
They currently hold the second wild card spot as of now. That second wild card spot in most likely Ottawa's only chance to make the playoffs with Boston being five points ahead. It's going to come down to the nitty gritty and there is no room for error.
On offense, the Senators rank in the top ten for goals scored and shots on goal per game. They fell eleventh in shooting percentage and power play conversion. This offense is honestly better than most think when looking at their roster.
Defense is hit or miss. They don't allow many shots on goal per game, but they do allow over 3 goals per game. That comes down to some goaltending and tonight, we're going to see Linus Ullmark. He is 25-12-8 this season with a 2.84 GAA and a .886 save percentage.

I think this should be an easy one for Tampa. With no Vasi, the offense is going to need to show up. I don't see that to be an issue for this team vs. a team with weak defense. Tampa will need to pepper the net and get to the Ottawa defense to win this one.
Definitely leaning the over in this game. Should be very eventful and have a lot of action. The Senators obviously have a lot more to play for, but I don't see them controlling the tempo of this game. They're going to have to play Lightning hockey to beat this team.
I really like Darren Raddysh to get his shots on goal. Whether the line is 3 or 4 shots, he will be firing the puck from the blue line. He was on a tear of hitting his shots line and fell off a bit, but found his way back last game. I like for him to repeat last game.
