We're back on the frozen pond for tonight's game. The Vegas Golden Knights head to the nation's capital to take on the Washington Capitals. This is the first of two matchups between these two teams.
Vegas is 28-16-14 this season and first in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a win Wednesday vs the Kings 6-4. The Knights are 6-4-0 in their last ten games and 14-8-7 on the road. They have the exact same home and road records.
They looked good in their first game back from the Olympic break. Numerous guys sat out that were returning from the Olympics, and they still got the job done. The offense should be back to full strength for tonight's game.
Their offense and defense have been top notch. The Knights rank in the top ten in the league for goals scored, power play percentage and shooting percentage. This team's roster is stacked and gets results.
On defense, they're just as good. They clamp teams in shots on goal per game, the commit the least penalties per game and rank tenth in penalty kill. Goalie Adin Hill is expected to get the start. He is 4-3-3 this season with a 2.92 GAA and a .870 save percentage.

Washington has a tough end of season in the Metro

Washington Capitals players celebrate together after scoring a goal.
The Capitals are 30-23-7 this year and fourth in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Flyers on Wednesday night. Washington is 6-3-1 in their last ten games and 18-10-3 at home.
Last game vs. the Flyers, they never trailed. The Caps got the game's first goal in the second period and never fell behind from there. Philly tied it right away in the third, but Washington took the lead with just under six minutes left.
Washington's offense doesn't rank the best in the league, but they're still two points out of the second wild card spot. They rank sixteenth in goals scored and seventh for shots on goal per game.
Their defense is just ok. They rank ninth in goals allowed and nineteenth in shots on goal allowed per game. The Caps commit almost five penalties per game and kill of only 79% of them.
In net, we're expected to see Logan Thompson. He is 19-16-4 this season with a 2.41 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Thompson returns to the team with a silver medal from the Olympics with Team Canada.

This should be a great game, I mean it is a former Stanley Cup Finals matchup. I like for the Knights to get another big win here. They looked great the other night, even having to fight off the Kings.
Vegas should also be back at full strength with their roster. Jack Eichel, Mark Stone and Shea Theodore should all be active. Eichel looked fantastic in the Olympics, and I think he'll be happy be to back with the boys.
The Capitals will definitely put up a good fight. It should be a close game, but Vegas will pull it out in the end. I like for the game to over the 5.5 goals as well. Both teams should be firing on offense and be a bit much for the goaltending.
For a prop, I have to go with Eichel for 4 or more shots on goal. He's going to go right back to his position on the Knights which is the same style he played in the Olympics. Eichel should shoot the puck plenty and hit this line.
