We have a Metro Division showdown on Long Island tonight. The New York Rangers will take the bus on over to UBS Arena to take on the Islanders. These two teams played one month ago, and the Islanders won in a 2-0 shutout.
The Islanders are 28-19-5 this season and are third in the Metro. They come into this game off a shutout win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. New York is 5-4-1 in their last ten games, 14-9-2 at home and 8-5-2 in divisional games.
Center Bo Horvat has returned from injury which will help boost this offense. They don't rank high in the league for goals scored or shots on goal per game. Their power play and shooting percentage are also both not the best. Either way, they're finding ways to win and that's what matters.
Their defense seems to get better as the games are going by. The Isles rank seventeenth in shots on goal allowed per game and rank eighth in penalty kill. Goaltending has been exceptional this year and New York ranks third best for goals allowed per game.
In net, we're expected to see goalie Ilya Sorokin. He is 17-12-5 this season with a 2.42 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Sorokin leads the league with five shutouts and is coming off one as well.

Cross town rivals have been completely lost this season as Rangers come to LI

Islanders defenseman Alex Romanov and Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck fight for control of the puck.
The Rangers are 22-25-6 this year and last in the Metro Division. They come into this game off an overtime win vs. the Boston Bruins on Monday. New York is 2-7-1 in their last ten games, 16-12-2 on the road and 6-6-1 in divisional games.
It's been nothing short of a disaster this season for the Rags. They are dead last in the entire conference and not even close, with the Ottawa Senators five points ahead. Luckily, they're playing on the road because at home has been some of their worst hockey.
Their offense has been nowhere to be found. They rank in the bottom ten of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. New York's power play is the brightest spot of their offense. No one on this team has emerged as the leader, even with a captain.
On defense, they're a little better, but not enough. They rank nineteenth in goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. Goalie Jonathan Quick is expected to start in net. He's 4-11-2 this year with a 2.94 GAA and a .884 save percentage.

We're going to go with the under in this game. Sorokin has been fantastic this season and had a great outing vs. the Rangers earlier this year. The Rangers don't have much offense to shut down as it is as well.
The Islanders should get a few by Quick to win this one. Their offense has been clicking, and they looked good vs. the Flyers the other night. We could see a lot of the same type of game that we saw them play last game.
Give me Bo Horvat to get 3 or more shots on goal. It'll be his second game back from injury and he's coming off a dud last game. This is a great spot for him to bounce back and hit his shot line. I'll also be sprinkling his anytime goal as well.
I do lean with the Islanders winning this one, but the moneyline is too juice. Should be a great game and I'll tell you one thing – UBS will be ROCKING!
