We're headed to the windy city for tonight's game. The New York Islanders will take on the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. This is the first of two meetings between the two teams.
New York is 21-14-4 this season and second in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a loss to the Blue Jackets on Sunday. The Islanders are 5-4-1 in their last ten games and 9-7-2 on the road.
Offense has been very back and forth for the Isles. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored per game and power play conversion. New York is shooting more this year, ranking fifteenth, but their shooting percentage is terrible.
They've been decent on defense this season. The Islanders rank in the top ten of the league for goals allowed per game and penalty kill percentage. They are allowing a lot of shots, but the goaltending has been stepping up.
We are likely to see goalie David Rittich tonight as Ilya Sorokin could sit again with a lower body injury. Rittich is 9-4-2 this season with a 2.30 GAA and a .919 save percentage. There is a chance Sorokin plays so keep your eyes out.

Chicago will try to get a win at home where they struggle

Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard embraces his teammates after they scored a goal.
Chicago is 14-18-6 this year and last in the Central Division. They come into this game off a loss on Sunday to the Penguins. The Blackhawks are 2-8-0 in their last ten games and 7-8-3 at home this season.
With the division they're in, the Hawks might as well pack it up for the year. The top three teams in the division are 20+ points ahead of them in the standings. It would take a hockey miracle for them to compete for a playoff spot.
Their offense ranks in the bottom of the league for both goals scored and shots on goal per game. On defense it's a lot of the same, ranking in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed. Killing penalties is what they do best, and they need to because they commit almost six penalties per game.
In net, we will see Spencer Knight. He is 10-11-5 this season with a 2.65 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Islanders vs. Blackhawks picks.

We should see a fun game here. I know both offenses aren't the most action packed, but I think they get the best of these goalies. The defense on both teams can be optional, and this should be a back-and-forth battle.
New York should win this game and there is some value there. No Bedard also helps that out a lot (lol). I do for see a high scoring game with what I was saying before about the offenses and defenses, so leaning over.
This will be Bo Horvat's third game since returning from injury. He and Mat Barzal really play well together. I like them both to record a point together for -105. This can happen on one play with them out there together. Both are huge parts of this offense. Sprinkle is anytime goal as well – he's coming off a goal last game.
