Top teams in the league face off against each other tonight. The Carolina Hurricanes will head up North to take on the Edmonton Oilers. These two teams last met in November, and the Oilers won 4-3 in overtime.
Carolina is 39-16-6 this season and first in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Canucks 6-4 on Wednesday night. The Hurricanes are 8-1-1 in their last ten games and are 16-8-4 on the road.
The Canes probably play in the toughest division in the league. They cannot afford to slip because the standings are so close. As of now, they're playing extremely well and will look to continue to maintain that lead in the standings.
On offense, they rank in the top ten in the league for goals scored per game, shots on goal per game and power play conversion. On defense, they're really good, ranking seventh in goals allowed and first in shots on goal allowed.
Goaltender Brandon Bussi is expected to get the start. He is 24-3-1 this year with a 2.25 GAA and a .906 save percentage. Bussi is having himself a hell of a year and is becoming one of the best goalies in the league.

Edmonton looks to win two in a row tonight at home

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard and forward Leon Draisaitl celebrate after scoring a goal.
The Oilers are 30-24-8 this year and third in the Pacific Division. They come into this game off a win over the Senators in overtime by a score of 5-4. Edmonton is 5-5-0 in their last ten games and are 16-10-4 at home.
They are 2-2-0 in their games since returning from break. They've put up 5, 4, 8, and 5 in each of those games. It's tough to lose games knowing you're pouring on that offense. Defense and goaltending needs to be more solid.
On defense, the Oilers are sloppy. The don't allow of shots on goal per game, but rank in the bottom of the league for goals allowed per game. They commit almost five penalties per game and only kil off 76.7% of them.
We're expected to see Tristan Jarry in net. He is 15-7-2 this season with a 2.92 GAA and a .890 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Hurricanes vs. Oilers picks.

This is going to be a great game. I can't get a feel if it's going over or under because I'm not sure which Tristan Jarry we're going to see. Bussi makes me lean to the under, but we need to get the right Jarry.
That aside, I think Carolina comes in here and steals the win. This team is so good defensively that they will clamp down the Edmonton offense. The Canes game plan is going to be to smother the Oilers top guys and they can do it.
It's been five months since they last played and we're getting to crunch time. I like for Jarry to get over his saves line with this Canes offense. They're averaging over 30 shots per game and should hit that number with Jarry's save line being under 30 saves.
Give me McJesus to do McJesus things. I like him for 4 or more shots on goal as well as an assist if it's not terribly juiced. Sebastion Aho for 3 or more shots on goal is another play I really like and will be on. He's coming off a great game on Thursday.
