Two of the top teams in the East face off tonight. The Carolina Hurricanes take the short trip south to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. These two teams met about two weeks ago and it was a barn burner with the Canes winning 5-4.
Carolina is 41-18-6 this season and are first in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a loss 3-1 to the Blues on Thursday. The Canes are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and 17-9-4 on the road.
It was a pretty bad showing last game for them and it's not the right time of the year. The Canes do lead the division by nine points, but if they lose that lead, then every team will be on their tail with how close the standings are. It's time to grind.
Their offense and defense rank in the top ten of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game as well goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. Both their power play and penalty kill are middle of the league.
In net, we're expected to see Brandon Bussi who has been on fire. He is 25-5-1 this season with a 2.39 GAA and a .899 save percentage. Bussi has been a huge factor in the team's success this season.

Tampa looks to carry momentum from win over Wings on Thursday

Lightning forward Brayden Point celebrates after scoring a goal.
The Lightning are 40-20-4 this year and second in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a win over the Red Wings on Thursday. Tampa Bay is 4-6-0 in their last ten games and 20-11-0 at home this season.
Tampa really needs to kick it back in gear. This is a tough spot, but they play good under pressure. Going 2-6-0 in their last eight games though is terrible. Hopefully last games win will be the boost they need.
They rank in the top of the league for goals scored per game and middle of the league for shots on goal per game and power play conversion. Their defense is also top notch, ranking in the top of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal per game.
Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to start. He is 30-11-3 this season with a 2.25 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Hurricanes vs. Lightning picks.

This is going to be a great match up. Last game was an absolute barn burner, and I think we see another great game, but maybe not so many goals. Only difference is Tampa Bay is going to take this one at home.
Carolina has been sitting pretty in their spot for quite a while, but the top spot in the Atlantic is still up for grabs. I think Tampa comes out hungry and beats them with their offense. Vasi needs to be on point for them to be able to get the win.
We should see this game go under as well with these goalies. We have two of the best goalies in the league facing each other. I expect both of them to be ready for the top offenses they're about to face. Vasi has the experience though, which is another reason I lean Tampa.
