We have a good one on our hands tonight. The Carolina Hurricanes will take on division rivals the New Jersey Devils. These two teams met early in the season and the Canes won the game 6-3.
Carolina is 24-14-3 this season and first in the Metro Division. They come into this game on a three-game losing streak after a loss to the Avalanche last night at home. The Canes are 4-5-1 in their last ten games, 11-6-2 on the road, and 9-3-0 in divisional games.
They were winning last night's game until the third period came. Carolina was up 3-1 at the start of the third and proceeded to allow four unanswered goals to lose 5-3. Granted, they lost to the best team in the league and still competed, so not a terrible game.
This offense is fast and pours it on. The Canes rank eighth in goals scored and second in shots on goal per game. Now, all those shots aren't the best because they rank twenty third in shooting percentage. Surprisingly, to me at least, they rank seventeenth in power play conversion.
On defense, not as tight as the previous years. They are still clamping down on shots on goal allowed, ranking the best in the league, but are leaky. The Canes rank fifteenth in goals allowed and are almost twentieth in penalty kill.
Goalie Brandon Bussi is expected to start. He is 13-2-1 this season with a 2.33 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Bussi has been nothing but fantastic in his first year in the show.

New Jersey will try to make it three in a row tonight at home

Devils forward Nico Hischier celebrates after scoring a goal vs. the Hurricanes.
The Devils are 22-17-2 this year and sixth in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Mammoth last night. New Jersey is 5-4-1 in their last ten games, 11-7-2 at home and 4-5-2 in divisional games.
With the division both teams are in, being in first or sixth really doesn't matter when they are only separated by 5 points. It has to be one of, if not the, toughest division in the league. New Jersey started out hot and has cooled off a bit, but still right in the thick of it.
New Jersey has had trouble finding the back of the net. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored per game. Kind of like Carolina, the Devils pepper the net but have the worst shooting percentage in the league.
Their defense hasn't been good either. Jersey's goaltending has been solid, ranking middle of the league for goals allowed per game. They rank in the bottom of the league for shots on goal allowed per game, which can be a problem today.
In net, we're expected to see Jake Allen. He is 11-8-1 this year with a 2.52 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Hurricanes vs. Devils picks.

Carolina is looking to get back on track and last night's loss has to sting a bit. Not only are they a good road team, but they've been very good in divisional games this season. With the value we're getting, I'm rolling with the Canes to win this one.
I think we see a bit of a chess match, so that under 6.5 goals looks nice as well. Both teams are very familiar with each other and now that more of the season has been played vs. their first matchup – these teams are cooking. I like the under as well here.
Should be a decent bounce back spot for the Canes. I like for Andrei Svechnikov to continue to shine. Guy has hit his 3 or more shots on goal in his last six straight and we're getting -122 value. Give it to me all day.
Sebastian Aho has also been playing well. Sprinkle that anytime goal as he has 3 goals in his last two games.
