The Metro Division is as tight as a sardine can and we got two teams facing off. The Carolina Hurricanes will take on the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. These two teams faced off two weeks ago and the Hurricanes won 3-1.
Carolina is 29-15-4 this season and are first in the Metro. They come into this game off a laying a beatdown on the Panthers last night. The Canes are 5-4-1 in their last ten games, 12-7-3 on the road and 10-3-0 in divisional matches.
What a game they had last night putting up nine goals. They do rank in the top three of the league for both goals scored and shots on goal per game. Although they put up a lot of shots, they have a pretty low shooting percentage that needs to be taken into account.
Their defense has been solid. Ranking eleventh in the league for goals allowed and first in shots on goal allowed per game. Clamping down the shot count on their opponents has been something the Canes have been very good at the last few years.
Golie Frederik Andersen is expected to start. He is 6-10-3 this season with a 3.37 GAA and a .863 save percentage. It's been a tough go for Andersen splitting time with fellow goalie Brandon Bussi, who has been carrying them.

New Jersey looks to make it three in a row tonight at home

Hurricanes forward Logan Stankoven tries to get the puck away from Devils defenseman Luke Hughes.
The Devils are 24-21-2 this season and sixth in the Metro Division. They come into this game on a two-game winning streak after an overtime win vs. the Kraken on Wednesday. New Jersey is 4-5-1 in their last ten games, 12-8-2 at home and 4-8-2 in divisional games.
Offense has been a struggle for the Devils. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored per game. Even though they rank fifth in shots on goal per game, they have the second worst shooting percentage to go with it.
Their defense has been ok, but nothing fantastic. New Jersey is ranking eighteenth in goals allowed and seventeenth in shots on goal allowed per game. They play smart hockey, averaging under four penalties per game, but only killing off 77% of them.
In net, we're expected to see Jacob Markstrom. He is 12-10-1 this season with a 3.34 GAA and a .879 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Hurricanes vs. Devils picks.

After Carolina just put up over a touchdown last night, I think their scoring scales back. I know we have two goalies with two terrible GAA's, but I think we see a battle with low offense. The under should be an easy one, like it was last matchup.
Whenever a team scores so heavy one game, it's common to see them come up empty the next game. This is a back-to-back on top of it so fatigue could also be a factor. The Devils defense tends to struggle, and the Canes solid defense will slow them down as well.
I like for the Canes to pepper the net. Any guys like Nikolaj Ehlers, Andrei Svechnikov or Sebastian Aho have been firing and did last matchup. These guys lead this team and are all coming off solid games that could carry over to this game.
Another play is Markstrom over his saves line. It'll probably come out around 25 saves, and the Canes shoot so much that this is a solid look. This will most likely be the key to their success to win this game.
