We have a great game out of the Pacific Division tonight. The Calgary Flames will take on the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center at San Jose. These two teams last met just about a month ago and the Flames won 3-2.
San Jose is 27-24-4 this season and are sixth in the Pacific Division. They may have need the break as they were on a four-game losing streak before it. The Sharks were 4-5-1 in their last ten games and are 14-9-3 at home.
Star center Macklin Celebrini returns to the team with a silver medal. I'm really excited to see how he ends the rest of the season after putting up 81 points so far. This kid showed in the Olympics that he really is special and going to be the next face of the league.
On paper, the Sharks rank a little low in the league for goals scored per game and power play conversion. They rank in the bottom of the league for shots on goal per game but have the sixth best shooting percentage to make up for it.
In net, we're expected to see Yaroslav Askarov. He is 17-15-2 this season with a 3.20 GAA and a .889 save percentage. Askarov will look for this eighteenth win tonight at home vs. the Flames.

Calgary far from a playoff spot with only so many games left

Flames players Adam Klapka and Jonathan Huberdeau take Sharks defenseman Sam Dickinson to the floor trying to get the puck.
The Flames are 23-27-6 this year and seventh in the Pacific Division. They went into the break off a big win over division rivals, the Edmonton Oilers. Otherwise, they were 4-4-2 in their last ten games and are a poor 8-17-2 on the road.
It's been a rough year for Calgary as they can't get anything going. They rank last in the league for goals scored per game and in the bottom for power play conversion. The Flames rank tenth in shots on goal per game but have the second worst shooting percentage.
On defense, they are thirteenth in goals allowed and ninth in penalty kill. The Flames get peppered a bit, ranking twenty second in shots on goal allowed per game. It's good they have a solid PK because they commit the fourth most penalties per game.
Goalie Dustin Wolf is expected to start. He is 16-21-3 this season with a 2.80 GAA and a .896 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Flames vs. Sharks picks.

I'm rolling with the home team here. Celebrini is just coming back from playing with the best players in the world and developed lifetime bonds. He's going to be hype to be back with his boys and get back to work.
I like the Sharks at home as they've played decent and the Flames struggles on the road. Wolf has played poorly over his last ten games going 2-7-1 and I see the Sharks taking advantage of him. The Will Smith to Celebrini connection is going to be attacking him.
Since he is so young, I see no rust on Celebrini. I like him for 4 or more shots on goal tonight. The Flames defense allows a good number of shots, and he had 5 vs. them last game. Don't forget to sprinkle that anytime goal as well.
