We have a showdown tonight and the best team of the league is playing. The Anaheim Ducks will take on the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena tonight. These two teams last met back in November and the Avs won 4-1.
Colorado is 34-5-8 this season and are first in the Central Division. They come into this game off a win over the Capitals on Monday. The Avalanche are 6-3-1 in their last ten games and an impressive 20-1-3 at home.
This team has literally only lost at home in regulation. The offense has been firing, ranking first in the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Colorado also has the eighth best shooting percentage in the league to go with all those shots.
Their defense is also top notch. Led by Cale Makar, this team is first in the league for goals allowed and ninth in shots on goal allowed per game. The Avs commit less than four penalties per game and have the best penalty kill in the league as well.
Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to get the start. He is 13-2-1 in this season with a 2.26 GAA and a .917 save percentage. Blackwood has been nothing short of fantastic for the Avs, especially considering his past play.

Anaheim on a hot streak and looking to make it five in a row

Ducks forward Leo Carlsson makes his way to the net with Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon on his tail.
Anaheim is 25-21-3 this year and are fourth in the Pacific Division. They come into this game on a four-game winning streak after beating the Rangers on Monday. The Ducks are 4-5-1 in their last ten games and 10-13-2 on the road.
This team started off hot and has since cooled off. Their offense has been lost, now ranking thirteenth in goals scored and twenty fifth in power play conversion. They rank fourth in shots on goal per game but are twenty first in shooting percentage.
On defense is where they have their problems. Anaheim ranks second to last in goals allowed and twenty first in shots on goal allowed per game. They commit over five penalties per game and only kill off 78% of them.
In net, we're expected to see Lukas Dostal. He is 16-12-2 this season with 3.11 GAA and a .890 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Ducks vs. Avalanche picks.

With the way Anaheim has been playing, I kind think they keep this game close. Colorado has experienced their most losses over the last seven games than they had all season. I'm not saying they come back down to earth, just that the Ducks keep it close.
I like the way the Ducks are playing. They have beat creditable teams during this four-game run, like the Stars and the Kings twice. Obviously, Colorado is on a whole different level, but we're not looking for the win.
Give me Nathan MacKinnon to record 2 or more points. He has hit the number in two of his last three games and three of out his last five games. MacKinnon had 3 points vs. the Ducks last game and I think he clears the line again.
I also like for Dostal to get peppered. He should be able to hold strong, but he's going to see 30+ shots. The line should come out around 28 saves, and this could be a relatively easy one. Colorado is going to fire away on this guy.
