Small slate today, so let's start with one of the earlier games. The St. Louis Blues take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena. This is the first of two matchups between the two this season.
Tampa has started the year 19-13-3 and is third in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a win over the Hurricanes on Saturday. The Lightning are 3-6-1 in their last ten games and 9-9-0 at home.
This team has always been in the thick of things, even after losing long time captain Steven Stamkos. They rank seventh in goals scored and nineteenth in shots on goal per game. Tampa has the ninth best shooting percentage to make up for the lack of shots.
The Lightning are really good defensively. They rank sixth in both goals allowed and shots on goal allowed. Playing smart hockey isn't their strong point, ranking third worst for penalties committed per game. Luckily, they have the fourth best penalty kill to combat that.
Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to get the start. He's 12-7-2 this season with a 2.38 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Vasi is 7-3-0 in his last ten starts and will look to blank the Blues tonight.

St. Louis will look to build off big win over Florida on Saturday

Blues players Pavel Buchnevich and Colton Parayko celebrate after scoring a goal.
The Blues are 14-15-8 this year and fifth in the Central Division. They come into this game off a win over the Panthers on Saturday by a score of 6-2. St. Louis is 5-4-1 in their last ten games and 7-7-3 on the road.
This team is playing in one of the toughest divisions in the league, so they really need to turn it around if they want to make the playoffs. Colorado, Minnesota and Dallas are all currently cruising with no end in sight. They're really going to need to step it up.
They're in the bottom of the league offensively for goals scored and shots on goal per game. Their shooting percentage isn't good, and their power play isn't much better. This team lacks a superstar and some more depth to really compete.
It's not much better on defense. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and middle of the league for shots on goal allowed pet game. Goalie Jordan Binnington has been confirmed to start. He is 7-8-6 this season with a 3.41 GAA and a .873 save percentage.

We're rooting for goals in this one. I think the Lightning are going to put up at least four goals by themselves, so we won't need too much from the Blues. We're already getting the low total most likely due to the Blues offense.
This is a good coming out party for the Lightning if they take advantage of the St. Louis defense. Kuch, Guentzel and Point will definitely all be heavily involved of the offense and they're happy to have Point back. They've been 50/50 at home but I think this is a good opponent to beat on.
Give me Kucherov to record 2 or more points for even money. It's great value for a guy who will be running this offense and take the most shots on a power play. Kuch has already amassed 13 goals and 30 assists this season.
I also like Vasi to get 22 or more saves for -130. This line is low in my opinion. The Blues shoot about 26 shots on goal while the Lightning are allowing about 27 shots on goal per game, so the math is mathing for me here.
