We have the two top teams in the league taking the ice tonight. The Colorado Avalanche will face the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. These two teams last played about two weeks again and the Stars won 2-1 in a shootout.
Colorado is 49-15-10 this season and are not only the top team in the Central Division, but also the entire league. They come into this game off a surprising loss to the Canucks on Wednesday. The Avs are 5-4-1 in their last ten games, 25-7-5 on the road and 14-4-5 in divisional games.
Last game was not only a surprise, but an eye opener for the Avs. They put up six goals in a game and still lost by TWO goals. This is not even mentioning that it was vs. the worst team in the league. For momentum purposes, they need to bounce back tonight.
This team has the best offense in the league, ranking first in goals scored and shots on goal per game. Their defense is just as good, allowing the least number of goals per game and have the second-best penalty kill. Goaltending needs to be the bounce back after last game.
In net, we're expected to see Mackenzie Blackwood. He is 21-9-1 this season with a 2.34 GAA and a .899 save percentage. Blackwood will look to get the team back on track after last game.

Dallas looks to get closer to first place with win tonight at home

Stars forward Mikko Rantanen scores a goal on Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood.
The Stars are 45-19-12 this year and are second in the Central Division with a clinched playoff spot. They come into this game off a win over the Jets on Thursday. Dallas is 3-5-2 in their last ten games, 23-10-4 at home and 16-5-3 in divisional games.
It's crazy to think that this team has a comfortable first place lead if in the Pacific Division. It's looking like, unless they can take over first place, they will play the third seed Minnesota Wild. They're going to have a tough round one as it doesn't look like the seeding will change.
This team plays very smart. They don't shoot much, but when they do, they're on point. Dallas takes advantages of power play opportunities and holding it down on the penalty kill. They're going to need top notch goaltending in this one to win.
Goalie Jake Oettinger is expected to get the start. He is 31-12-6 this season with a 2.56 GAA and a .900 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Avalanche vs. Stars picks.

After last game, the Avalanche need a bounce back. This is a huge statement game if they can pull off the win. It will also widen the gap for them to secure first place. It's not going to be easy, but I think they pull it off.
The last game they played was super close and this one could be too. I think the Avs put up a good number of goals, and their goaltending will really be ready after last game. Even the books aren't sure which way to lean so we'll take advantage of the value.
Give me Nathan MacKinnon to get his shots on goal and 2 or more points. He has hit his 5 shots on goal in three of his last four games. MacKinnon has a goal in back-to-back games as well as 5 goals in 5 games.
