Back for another weekend of Pucks for Your Betting News. Last week resulted in a 3-3 mark for a small profit of .11 Units. YTD sits at 15-6 for a profit of 11.30 Units. It's Freaky Friday in the NHL and I have picks on all 3 games on the slate. First, we have the New Jersey Devils visiting the Vegas Golden Knights then we have the Winnipeg Jets visiting the Florida Panthers and finaly, the Seattle Kraken visiting the Calgary Flames.
Before we get started, bookmark Our NHL picks page where you'll see more picks from the team. For more information on how to bet on the NHL, take a look at our NHL Betting Guide.
As far as my NHL picks, I look at shot on goal props, but only plus money looks, as the market is very volatile with stat corrections (sometimes days after the game has ended). Also, I'm a totals bettor (team and game). I am never afraid at looking at plus money underdogs. I love providing my insight as to the "Why" and I hope to provide some guidance to novice bettors of this great sport. "Spot" betting is huge on the ice, and this depends on teams travel schedules, goaltending matchups and splits following a win/loss, among may others.

Here is a look at how these teams have fared over their last 5 games along with some recent betting trends:
It's Nevada day in Las Vegas but what is Nevada day? Nevada day is a state holiday that commemorates Nevada's admission into the United States as the 36th state on October 31st, 1864. In Nevada, the holiday is observed every year on the last Friday of October. The Vegas Golden Knights hold a home game every year, as a 3PM local time matinee, to celebrate the holiday. The Over (on a line of 5.5) is 6-2 in the 8 year history of the franchise on Nevada day, but that is not the main reason I like this total.
The New Jersey Devils made a huge splash on the trade front recently by acquiring much maligned net minder Connor Hellebucyk from the Winnipeg Jets. Hellebuyck started against Dallas on Wednesday night and held the Stars to 1 goal in a 5-1 New Jersey win. Both of these teams have played to the over this season as New Jersey is 9-4 to the over while Vegas is 9-5. On the road, where the Devils average 2.8 goals per game and 4.0 goals against, New Jersey is 3-0-2 to the over. At home, where Vegas averages 3.8 goals per game and 2.6 goals against, the Golden Knights are 6-2 to the over.
Connor Hellebuyck is obviously a very capable goalie and will solidify New Jersey's cage, and his presence will skew their defensive numbers but the Golden Knights are very familiar with him from his days in Winnipeg. Connor is 1-4 lifetime against Vegas with a 3.31 goals against average and a .897 save percentage. We are getting a very rare 5.5 here below my benchmark of -130. I'll back the over here.

Here is a look at how these teams have fared over their last 5 games along with some recent betting trends:
The Winnipeg Jets are on a back to back as they make the short trip to Sunrise tonight to battle the Florida Panthers. The Jets are coming off a 6-4 defeat last night agsainst the Tampa Bay Lightning. Winnipeg stormed back with 3 third period goals to make the result closer that what it seemed. The Jets are in the midst of a 7 game losing streak and were just defeated by this Florida team 5-1 on home ice on Tuesday night, which was the last time the Panthers played.
This is a system bet for me. If you have followed me on Twitter you will see that I have been tracking "Tones B2B NHL System". The parameters are: Play on a team that is on a B2B if they lost the first game and play against them if they won. That is exactly what we have here tonight. This system is 24-17 on the season, profiting at 8.44 Units. Last season the system went 147-136 for a profit of 7.46 Units.
I do see some value in the Jets also tonight. Nico Daws relived starter Stuart Skinner last night and went on to stop all 9 shots he faced. Daws was a part of the previously mentioned Connor Hellebuyck trade and is eager to make a good impression in what should be his first start with his new team. Head coach Scott Arneil was not happy with the team last night as he publicly called them out, demanding accountability. The Jets are a veteran squad and I am expecting a much better effort from them from the get go tonight so I'll give them a look here. After all, it is Freak Friday…

Bobby McMann has become the power forward Seattle has been looking for.
Seattle Kraken vs Calgary Flames Goaltending Matchup
- Seattle Kraken (8-4-1) Philipp Grubauer (projected) 5-1-1,2.93 GAA/.902 Sv%
- Calgary Flames (5-7) Dustin Wolf (projected) 1-4, 4.82 GAA/.839 SV%
Kraken vs Flames Betting Odds
Odds courtesy of our friends at LuckyRebel:
Money-Line
- Seattle Kraken (-115)
- Calgary Flames (-105)
Pick-Line
- Seattle Kraken -1.5 (+210)
- Calgary Flames +1.5 (-258)
Total
- Over 6.5 (-102)
- Under 6.5 (-118)
Here is a look at how these teams have fared over their last 5 games along with some recent betting trends:
The Seattle Kraken absolutely travel to Calgary to face a Flames team that they have absolutely owned recently. Seattle has won 4 straight head to head, outscoring the Flames by a 21-4 margin, including two 6-1 wins already this season. The Kraken have eclipsed 4 goals in all of those wins and surprisingly, have one of the best offenses in the league to start the season as they are averaging 3.7 goals per game, which is 5th best in the league.
The Flames have been bailed out recently by Devin Cooley in net but he suffered an injury against Edmonton on Wednesday night. Dustin Wolf has been a major drop off as he has struggled this season. Wolf was in net for the 2 previous meetings this season and got lit up in both. I love the value in Seattle's team total over tonight.

Brandon Montour has fit in like a glove for the Seattle Kraken, and his SOG is a best bet
The Kraken defenseman draws a fantastic matchup tonight. Calgary allowed the most shot on goal to defenseman at home this season. Montour cashed this bet in both meeting this season, registering 7 shots on 11 attempts. He also love to shoot from the right point, where the Flames also allow the most shots from. Montour is not a high volume shooter but he does take capitalize on favorable matchups, which he has here tonight.
