Blues vs Golden Knights Betting (Dec. 23): Goaltenders Shine in Low-Scoring Affair

As people are making their last-minute Christmas preparations, more NHL action is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 23. The Vegas Golden Knights will play host to the St. Louis Blues at 10 p.m. ET in what should be a competitive bout. St. Louis stole the win the first time that these teams met back in November, leaving hockey enthusiasts to wonder which side will be victorious in the latest Blues vs Golden Knights meeting.
The Blues were on a four-game winning streak before losing 5-2 to the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday. Needless to say, the Blues could use a win tonight in the last outing of their five-game road trip. After beating the Golden Knights 3-2 last month, it’ll be interesting to see if St. Louis can recreate history.
It won’t be easy as the Golden Knights are coming off Wednesday’s 5-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes. Mark Stone led the way with a three-point night (two goals, one assist) while Logan Thompson stood strong in the crease, turning away 21 of the 23 shots he faced.
As with most notable matchups, there are plenty of betting opportunities in this Blues vs Golden Knights tilt. Here’s a look at FanDuel Sportsbook’s latest odds for the games, as well as a prediction and the best bet to make, courtesy of Betting News.

Blues vs Golden Knights Prediction and Picks
Blues vs Golden Knights Prediction: Golden Knights 3, Blues 2
Blues vs Golden Knights: Golden Knights ML (Best Value: -170 at FanDuel) & Over 6 Goals (Best Value: -114 at FanDuel)
As mentioned above, the Blues have struggled to pick up wins against the Golden Knights. Vegas is 10-4-1 in its last 15 games against St. Louis, outscoring the opposition 63-46 over that span.
If that wasn’t enough, the Golden Knights have also beaten the Blues seven times over the last 11 meetings at T-Mobile Arena. Even though St. Louis won in Sin City just over a month ago, it’s beginning to look like that win was an anomaly, if anything.
It’s also hard to trust the Blues with how streaky they’ve been this season. While they’ve won at least three games in a row on three occasions, they’ve also been on losing streaks of four and eight games.
Now, the Blues must face a Golden Knights squad out for revenge after November’s 3-2 loss. The last time that Vegas lost to St. Louis, the former followed it up with a 7-4 victory in their next meeting. Needless to say, it shouldn’t be surprising if the Golden Knights look to put their opponents away early on.

I like Vegas’ chances of winning tonight because all of its top players are clicking at the right time. Jonathan Marchessault, Reilly Smith and Mark Stone all have nine points over the last 10 games. Even more impressive is Chandler Stephenson, who paces all Golden Knights players over that span with 12 points.
It’ll be interesting to see if the group can have success against Jordan Binnington, who’ll likely draw the start for the Blues. Although the veteran goaltender has won each of his last three starts, he’s still 3-6-1 in his last 10 appearances with a 3.62 goals-against average and .875 save percentage (with a shutout). If the Golden Knights can rattle him early on, it could be a long night for the Blues.
It’s also easier to trust the Golden Knights due to their being 18-9-1 straight up when they’re the favorite this season. Considering how the Blues are just 8-12-1 as the underdog, I just don’t see them pulling off an upset tonight.
I’m avoiding the spread here by siding with Vegas on the moneyline instead. Even though I’m expecting the Golden Knights to win, the Blues could still keep things close.
I’m siding with the total going under six goals as well. Binnington has appeared to turn his play around while Thompson has been solid between the pipes for Vegas. As long as both goaltenders live up to their potential, goals could be hard to come by.
