Analysis & Breakdown

Ugly Wins Count
Last week was the definition of 'ugly win'. The Seahawks hosted the Indianapolis Colts and faced a 44-year old Philip Rivers coming right off his couch. Rivers hadn't played a snap of football since 2020 but somehow got off the couch and ALMOST got win against this tough Seahawks team. Rivers threw for just 120 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception, so the blame definitely falls on the offense.
Sam Darnold threw for 271 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. He was sacked just once and completed 61% of his passes; seven of which went to Jaxson Smith Njigba for 113 yards. So what happened? The Seahawks just couldn't finish drives and until the fourth quarter the offense was stagnant. Seattle finished the game with no touchdowns, just six field goals, nine of which came in the 4th quarter.
Outside of that ugly game, the offense has been incredible. Seattle's 5th in points this year (28.9), 8th in pass yards, 3rd in yards per play and they've done a great job keeping Darnold off the ground. He's averaging 245.5 pass yards per game with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Seahawks defense has been top five this year in terms of pure defense. The squad look elite and Head Coach Mike McDonald has done an impeccable job to have these guys read on game day. The Hawks rank 2nd in points allowed (17.3), 6th in opponent redzone efficiency, 2nd in opponent third down conversion rate, 7th in pass yards allowed, 3rd in rush yards allowed, and 2nd in sacks.
Seattle's also got the 2nd highest graded secondary in the NFL so this week we'll get to see the top two secondaries in the NFL go head to head. Get the popcorn out, it could be ugly.
Red Hot Rams
The Rams come into this week's matchup with the Hawks off a HUGE win against the Detroit Lions. The race for the NFC West is tightening up but entire playoff race in the NFC is looking like it might come down to the last day of the year. As it stands right now, three of the four teams in the NFC West have a 94% or better chance to play playoff football.
The Rams and Seahawks both have 11 wins with the Niners sitting just one win behind both teams. Both teams are in need of a win today to help solidify their hold on the division.
Los Angeles has been one of, if not the best team in football this year. Offensively the team ranks 2nd in points scored (30.0), 3rd in redzone efficiency (66.7%), 1st in first downs, 2nd in pass yards, 9th in rush yards and 1st in yards per play (6.2). They've been just as good on the defensive side of the ball.
The defense ranks 3rd in points allowed (18.6), 2nd in opponent redzone efficiency (45.5%). 6th in turnovers forced, 9th in sacks and 6th in opponent yards per play. The Ram's have the 5th highest graded pass rush this year and the top graded secondary.
This Ram's offense has some absolute studs too. Davante Adams has been automatic in the redzone, Puka Nacua continues to have huge games, the run game is thriving with both Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, and now with the emergence of Colby Parkinson it's only increased the potency of this offense.
Thusday Night's Best Bets
Colby Parkinson Anytime Touchdown (+250) | Lucky Rebel

He cashed out last week and I'm going right back this week. Parkinson is in his sixth year in the NFL, his second year with th Rams and he's setting career highs across the board. He wasn't high up on the team's depth chart to start the year, but as soon as Tyler Higbee went down he became the guy.
In the seven games with Higbee on the field, Parkson averaged 17.6 yards per game, 2.1 receptions per game andwas consistently playing fewer than 40% of the team's offensive snaps. In the last four weeks since becoming the team's TE1, Parkinson's averaging 43.8 yards per game, 5.3 targets per game and he's got four touchdowns.
Parkinson's got 21 total targets in these four games with 12 of them coming in the redzone. Matt Stafford is looking at two guys when they get within 10 yards, one being Davante Adams and now the second being Colby Parkinson. He saw three of the team's five redzone targets last week and finished the day with two touchdowns.
Lastly, I'll leave you with a little narrative. Parkinson was drafted by the Seahawks back in 2020 and he scored four total touchdowns in four years with the Seahawks. He's scored four touchdowns in the last four week with Los Angeles. Look for that to continue this week on primetime.
