Analysis & Breakdown

Drake 'Drake Maye' Maye

Coming off arguably his worst game of the year, Drake Maye is looking to bounce back and help solidify their hold on the AFC East. Maye's sixth in pass yards, 8th in touchdowns, 3rd in passer rating and 1st in completion percentage. He's got the 6th highest passing grade in the NFL, ranks top five in EPA/play and has one of the nicest deep balls in the league.

The Patriots offense ranks 7th in scoring, 5th in third down conversion rate, 13th in rush yards, 3rd in yards per play and 9th in turnovers. They take care of the ball and they move the ball in chunks, exactly what you want from an offense.

On the defensive side its been ugly as of recently. This Patriots squad started the year as a top five rushing defense but injuries have run amok and the defense just hasn't looked the same. One of the team's biggest issues has been redzone defense. The Patriots rank 5th in points allowed but dead last opponent redzone efficiency. Opponents are converting 75% of their redzone trips into touchdowns and this week they play a Ravens offense that 31st in redzone efficiency.

The Bills won their 11th game of the year today and if the Patriots want to hold onto this division, they'll need to do the same.

Hope is Fickle

The Ravens season is still alive and despite the 7-7 record, they could still win the division. The Steelers play the Lions this week and with just one separating both the Ravens and Steelers; a win this week becomes that much more important. The team's coming off a shutout win over the Cincinnati Bengals and look to bring that same intensity into this week's primetime matchup.

The Ravens offense 18th in points, despite having two of the most explosive players in the NFL on their offense. Derrick Henry's been good this year but he's had issues with fumbling, the kind we've never seen from him. Lamar Jackson looks less agile this year and the offense struggles once they get in the redzone.

Baltimore's converting just 44% of their redzone trips into touchdowns and that's the biggest reason they've failed to put up points. This week they go head to head with the worst redzone defense in the NFL and I'm excited to see if the Lamar and company can take advantage.

Both the Patriots and Ravens need wins this week, but the Ravens need it just a little bit more.

Sunday Night's Best Bets

Demario Douglas o14.5 Receiving Yards (-112) | Lucky Rebel

Pop Douglas

This one's going to be a sweat but this is the matchup for Pop Douglas to have a game. Douglas has cleared this line in 9 of his last 10 games, the team's most recent being the one miss. Last week we saw the Patriots go up against a Bills secondary that runs a ton of two-hi coverages, the exact coverage we've seen Douglas struggle against.

The Ravens run single-hi coverages at a top three rate this year and man coverage at a top five rate. Douglas leads the Patriots in targets per route run against man (0.28) and yards per route run (4.64). Against single-hi coverage, Douglas leads the team averaging 2..87 yards per route run.

Pop actually leads the NFL in yards per route run against man coverage, he just doesn't see a huge amount of offensive snaps. This week I'm expecting the Patriots to utilize him more because of the matchup and the lack of pass rush from Baltimore. More time in the pocket for Maye has been dangerous for opposing teams. He's more than happy to go deep and Douglas is the team's highest graded receiver on deep balls.
