This one is going to be ugly, and with a lack of starters on the Lions side of things, I see them struggling to move the ball. Detroit scored just 3 points in their opening preseason game, but bounced back and were able to put up 24 against the Chiefs on the road. I doubt we see the offensive or defensive starters, but regardless, I do not trust the Steelers offense at all. Whether we see Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, or both, it doesn’t really bother me. Without George Pickens, who is likely to sit today, I have absolutely zero faith in the Steelers offense.
While both of these defenses will likely be playing their 2s and 3s as well, finalizing some roster spots, it won’t be enough to make up for the lack of offense in my mind. Mike Tomlin has said that they are still trying to trim their roster down to 53 men, and some jobs will be won in this game tonight. A lot of the question marks surrounding Pittsburgh are with their offensive line, specifically who will start at the tackle position. This third preseason game seems like more of a tryout for the O-Line, and I think this could result in some added pressure on their QBs. Ultimately, I see this being a very boring and low scoring contest.
Los Angeles Chargers vs Dallas Cowboys Best Bets

While I have not necessarily gotten confirmation that the Cowboys will be playing their starters, there is confirmation that the Chargers will not. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said there is a group of about 15 offensive and defensive starters that will not see the field at all on Saturday, including Justin Herbert. The Chargers plan is for Easton Stick to play the entire game, with more “youngsters” getting the opportunity to showcase their talents for Los Angeles.
Regardless of whether or not Dallas plays their starters, I do trust Trey Lance and the Cowboys defense to have a solid game. The backups seemed to give other QBs trouble this preseason, so getting to Easton Stick on the road shouldn’t be a problem at all. I’ll gladly back the Cowboys to lead by a field goal at half, considering the Chargers will have their JV team out there all game long.
Cleveland Browns vs Seattle Seahawks Best Bets
Matchup Information – Browns vs Seahawks
- Venue: Lumen Field (Seattle, WA)
- Date: Saturday, August 24th, 2024
- Kick Off: 10:00pm Eastern
- Broadcast: NFL Network
Best Bet: Seahawks ML (-102) BetOnline

We are backing the Seahawks at home tonight. Although their starters have not played all preseason, tonight they get the green light. Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and company will be out there to start the game. Now for how long we see them is still up in the air, and will probably be dealt with on a “per-person type basis” according to new Head Coach, Mike Macdonald. As for the other side of the ball, Kevin Stefanski has also indicated his starters will see the field as well, meaning we should get some first team vs first team action at Lumen Field!
Ultimately, I trust Seattle’s back ups a bit more, and don’t really trust the Browns offense at all. I could see this turning into a JV game in the 2nd half, if not slightly before, and if that’s the case, I’ll back the Seahawks for nearly even money. Give me Sam Howell and the Seahawks supporting cast to take it to Jameis Winston and the Browns.
