We are backing the Colts in the first half tonight, and we are simply trusting what the coaches are telling us. The Colts are supposedly playing their starters for a quarter and a half, and backup QB Jason Bean has looked rock solid otherwise. I think even if the starters see less time, Bean will be able to put some points on the board against the Bengals' backups.
The Bengals will not play any starters on either side of the ball, which leaves Logan Woodside throwing to a bunch of nobodies. Even with the Colts on the road, I will absolutely lay 6 points with a team in a match that seems to be starters against bench warmers. There is still plenty of a difference in talent, and I see the Colts starting off hot.
The Colts have been behind at halftime in both of their earlier preseason games, but they faced plenty of the Bronco starters, including QB Bo Nix for nearly the entire game, and Anthony Richardson did not see the field at all against Arizona. With the Indianapolis starters lining up against the Bengals' backups, I have no problem backing them to lead by a touchdown at halftime.
