Jets vs Browns Hall of Fame Game Prediction & Best Bets

After seven long, agonizing months, the NFL has returned. Tonight, annual preseason curtain-raiser will take place in Canton, Ohio, as the New York Jets will face the Cleveland Browns in the 2023 NFL Hall of Fame Game (8:00 pm ET, NBC).

Both of these teams are expected to do well this coming season thanks to recent superstar quarterback additions. Last year, the Browns traded for Deshaun Watson, while the Jets traded for four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

Neither Rodgers nor Watson will take the field tonight, but that doesn't mean we won't see some decent action at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Will Scoring Be at a Premium Again in Canton?

Armed with two of the league's most talented quarterbacks, the Jets and Browns will expect to see a lot of success on offense this season.

Tonight, however, does not favor a high-scoring matchup.

In the history of the Hall of Fame Game, which was first played in 1962, 40 or more total points have been scored just 15 times in 57 games.

Last year's game, a 27-11 win for the Las Vegas Raiders over the Jacksonville Jaguars, was the only third in the previous 10 editions of the game that the total went over tonight's total of 33.5.

The Jets and Browns are set to face off in Week 17 of the regular season, and we should see more scoring in that matchup than this one.

Last season, the Raiders and Jaguars also went on to meet in the regular season, and in that Week 9 showdown in Jacksonville, the Jags recorded a 27-20 win.
