The San Fransisco 49ers travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders in a New Years Day showdown in the Sin City.
The 49ers get an opportunity to further their playoff position, as they are currently sitting 3rd in the NFC, but have the chance to move up if they can win out and they get some help.
On the other end, the Raiders still have a small chance to sneak into the playoffs but need a bunch of help and need to win their last 2 games for any kind of hope.
In this battle of two teams fighting for different aspirations, who will come out on top?
Here is my analysis, a game prediction and the player prop of the game!
It's Been Very Purdy in the Bay
When Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot on December 4th against the Dolphins, everyone assumed the 49ers season as toast.
Not so fast, my friend. Rookie QB Brock Purdy, the 7th round rookie stepped in and has been simply sensational.
The Niners have won 3 in a row with Purdy at the controls and it has even been without star wideout Deebo Samuel for the past 2 weeks.
The entire team has stepped up around Purdy.
George Kittle is playing like an All-Pro (more on him later), Christian McCaffrey has been the perfect fit since his midseason move from the Panthers and the Defense is without a doubt, the best unit in football.
If the Niners can win out and no other team can get up to 14 wins, then the NFC would run through San Fransisco.
But as it sits right now, the Niners are the 3 seed and firmly in position for a deep playoff run.
In this one against the Raiders, I have a feeling they put their foot on the gas and bury the silver and black from the get go.
Dude, Where's my Carr?
As I mentioned, the Raiders are still in the playoff hunt statistically but it feels like they have already given up on their season.
It was announced earlier this week that Franchise QB Derek Carr would be benched the last 2 weeks of the season.
Raiders are benching Derek Carr and turning to Jarrett Stidham as their new starting QB.
Carr has thrown a league-leading 14 interceptions— including three Saturday night during a 13-10 loss to the Steelers.
I would imagine a lot of guys in the Raiders locker room feel the same way about this decision and that doesn't bode well for this game on Sunday and the future of this team.
With pretty much nothing to play for and the turmoil around this situation, the Raiders have a tall task, even at home, against one of the best and hottest teams in the entire league.
Can the Raiders find a way to keep this one close or will the Niners impose their will on the Silver and Black and notch another W on their belt?
