Welcome into Wednesday night MACtion. Tonight, Miami of Ohio heads to Buffalo to take on the Bulls. Both teams are coming off tough losses and are looking to grab another conference win before they head into the final week of the season. The Bulls enter as short home underdogs, and the total sits at a very low 38.5. We are expecting minimal points this evening. Who is going to end their losing ways?
Player Prop
In this matchup I am all over Buffalo quarterback Ta'Quan Roberson, who has been carving up MAC defenses all season long. His pass yards number is all over the place depending on where you look. The best number I saw was 190.5 and I jumped on it right away. Some books had it as high as 215. Get the best number you can. If you feel like you are getting a weaker number, just know, I laddered his prop to 300 yards. I think he will have a strong chance to sling the pill a ton tonight.
The senior quarterback has already thrown for almost 2,000 yards and 13 touchdowns, along with running for 136 yards and two more touchdowns. Roberson has been airing it out all season, averaging 267 pass yards on 37 attempts per game in conference play.
Miami's Pass Defense
This evening he takes on a defense that is allowing 212 yards per game through the air. They face around 33 pass attempts per game. Buffalo leans more on the pass than the run, so I looked into some of the more pass heavy offenses in the conference. Eastern Michigan quarterback Noah Kim threw for 309 yards. Ohio, who can throw when needed and have a strong quarterback in Parker Navarro, threw for more than 200 yards. Akron quarterback Ben Finley had more than 210 yards. Roberson, who is among the MAC leaders in passing, has a real chance to carve up the RedHawks defense.
Roberson has surpassed this mark in five of his nine games this season. In conference play he has done it in five of six MAC games. His worst outing in conference came against Bowling Green, where he went 13 for 24 with 136 yards through the air.
This should be a strong spot for the senior quarterback to shine in what will be his second to last home game of his career. If he reaches 30 attempts this evening, he should clear this number with ease.
