Week 12 delivers one of the most compelling matchups of the college football season: No. 11 Texas at No. 5 Georgia. Both programs are coming off impressive wins and are looking to make statements that could define their seasons. The Longhorns have been on a roll since their early October loss, showing resilience and growth on both sides of the ball. Georgia, the reigning powerhouse, remains dominant but has shown signs of vulnerability early in games this season. This clash is about momentum, execution, and star players stepping up when it matters most. Every quarter will matter in a matchup like this.

#11 Texas vs. #5 Georgia – November 15
One of the biggest matchups of Week 12 is No. 11 Texas at No. 5 Georgia. Both teams are coming off massive wins and are looking to build upon their resumes this weekend. Texas has been rolling, taking down Oklahoma, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt since their loss to Florida on October fourth. Georgia is coming off destroying Mississippi State on the road, 41-21, and they are looking to make the Longhorns their next victim.
The Bulldogs are currently a six-point favorite and the total is at 47. I do lean with the under and the dog in this matchup, but I am going to take a different route. I will be all over Texas in the first half, taking them on the spread at +3.5. I originally wanted Texas at +7 in the full game, but I do not think the line will get there. Plus, I am not patient enough to wait. If you are, and you want to wait for a possible key number at seven and take Texas that route, I fully endorse it.
First Half Struggles
Now why the first half? Kirby Smart teams have been known to start slow, and we have seen that throughout this season. They have started slow and then improved drastically coming out of the half. I go back to the Ole Miss game, where the Rebels outscored the Bulldogs 21-20 in the first half. Those who watched that game know that Ole Miss dominated Georgia early. Georgia played terrible on defense. Getting that last second field goal in the first half was huge for the Bulldogs. Georgia then came out in the second half and outscored Ole Miss 23-14 to win the game 43-35.
Texas Improvements
Some may still think Texas is overrated or has been terrible this season, and by their standards that may be true. However, over the last few weeks they have really stepped up. The defense is still one of the best in the country.
Arch Manning has been improving as the weeks go by. Manning carved up Mississippi State and Vanderbilt's defense in back-to-back weeks, throwing for over 325 yards and three touchdowns in each game. He is in the form we all imagined he would be in at the start of the season.
This matchup will come down to how Texas starts and whether Georgia can avoid another slow first half. If Texas comes out sharp, they have the talent to keep this game close, especially with Arch Manning playing at his best.
Georgia will adjust after halftime, but the early advantage could be critical. Taking Texas in the first half at +3.5 gives you exposure to the Longhorns' upside without fighting the full game line. Expect a fast, physical opening, with Texas looking to prove they belong in the College Football Playoffs.
