Tonight at the State Farm Center we have some Big Ten basketball. The No. 8 Illinois Fighting Illini host the Wisconsin Badgers as both teams look to get back on track. The Fighting Illini had won 12 straight games prior to losing at Michigan State on Saturday, but are still just a single game behind the Michigan Wolverines in the conference. As for the Badgers, they suffered a road loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington this past weekend. Who will be able to pick themselves and get this win following their losses in overtime? Wisconsin Badgers vs. #8 Illinois Fighting Illini NCAA Basketball Insights
John Blackwell and the Badgers are coming off an overtime loss on the road to Indiana. Can they bounce back?
The Badgers have had a rocky season so far, and currently sit outside the top 25. They are 16-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play, but they arguably have the biggest win of the season, as they were able to take down the undefeated Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor in early January. That seems like ages ago, and since then, the Badgers have dropped two of their last four in the Big Ten. After losing to Indiana this weekend, and potentially looking ahead to hosting Michigan State on Friday, do the Badgers even show up tonight in Champaign?
It's a great spot for the Illini. They had a huge winning streak going, but it had to end at some point, and on the road against a tough Tom Izzo team is a storybook ending. However, now they have to pick themselves back up and handle business at home. The Badgers are feisty and won't go down easy, but Brad Underwood should have his team ready to roll in front of their home crowd.

Illinois is really good. They have lost just four times this year, to Alabama and UConn, both on neutral sites early in the season. Illinois lost to Nebraska at home by three (but got their revenge in Lincoln), and now to Michigan State by three in overtime on the road. All forgivable in my eyes, and I don't think they lose two in a row.

Wisconsin vs. Illinois Prediction: Illinois Wins and Covers, Over 155.5

However I will be backing the under, mainly because I don't think Wisconsin will contribute as much as they should. Illinois is freakishly good on defense, and it shows.
The Illini are north of 260 in pace, and the Badgers are a team that drop over 140 spots when on the road, meaning they severely slow down to their opponent's pace. Wisconsin also ranks bottom 35 in FT Rate offense, while the Illini lead the country in FT Rate defense. Underwood's team does a great job of keeping their hands to themselves and defending without fouling.
Illinois leads the Big Ten in offensive rebounds allowed, FT Rate defense and opponent FT% (shoutout the crowd). They are also bottom three in pace, ninth in FT Rate offense and second in offensive rebounding in the conference. The Illini don't get to the stripe very often, but they grab plenty of boards to swing it out and take up more time off the clock.
While Wisconsin's defense (or lack of) could cause this to tick over, I think Illinois will play slower, and limit this offense's opportunities. Brad Underwood should know he has the much better defense in this situation, so keeping this game under 70 possessions will certainly favor the hosts.
