At the home of the Boston Celtics there will be a top 10 NCAA Basketball matchup this Saturday as the No. 7 BYU Cougars come to the northeast to take on the No. 3 ranked UConn Huskies. Dan Hurley leads his undefeated squad against a Big 12 team looking to make some noise with one of the most exciting young players in the game, who may end up playing in this very arena next year. #3 UConn Huskies vs. #7 BYU Cougars NCAA Basketball Insights

Can the young Cougars head up north to take down the UConn Huskies?
The Cougars already took down a Big East team this season in their opener against Villanova in Las Vegas, and followed it up with home wins against Holy Cross and Delaware. Now they have to take on the Huskies in what should feel like a home game for UConn. Plus, BYU takes on the No. 24 Wisconsin Badgers next game out in Salt Lake City. Perhaps a look ahead spot?
UConn is in their own sort of look ahead spot as they host the No. 5 Arizona Wildcats next Wednesday, but in their first real test, I don't think they can afford to worry about the Wildcats. The Huskies have wins over New Haven, UMass Lowell and Columbia, but covered just one spread. They have dealt with a lot less travel than the Cougars, and they are overall the more experienced team with the better head coach.

Even though the Huskies haven't been battle tested, BYU really hasn't either. Villanova isn't that great. I have a lot of problems with BYU as to why I wouldn't trust them in March, but I haven't seen it yet this year from the Cougars and I'm not sure they go very far in the tournament. It'll be tough for them to compete in this one as well.

This is basically a home game for the Huskies, and UConn still has Dan Hurley at the helm. No offense to Kevin Young, he did a great job in his first year in Provo, but Hurley is literally a different animal. And so are the UConn Huskies.
My problem with BYU, is that they very heavily rely on just three scorers. AJ Dybantsa, Richie Saunders, and Baylor transfer Robert Wright II account for over 70% of this team's points early on this season. That is not sustainable and needs to change, especially considering Dybantsa is 18 years old, and Robert Wright is just 19. Veteran leadership and maturity takes you very far in college hoops, and I think it will be enough for UConn to cover this spread (along with their talent).
The Huskies are incredibly deep and experienced. All eight players averaging at least 20 minutes per game are upperclassmen, having played at least two seasons of college basketball already. The 7'1″ German freshman Eric Reibe is the only young guy getting significant minutes early on, meaning the Huskies always have four to five extremely mature and competent players on the floor.
Good things happen in "home" games for the Huskies, and I think the Cougars are simply outmatched in this game.
