The Aggies and Crimson Tide go head to head tonight in this unranked SEC matchup in Tuscaloosa. Yes, both Alabama (who started the year as a top 15 team) and Texas A&M (who are currently alone on top of the conference) are both unranked somehow. Regardless, the two teams battle tonight at Coleman Coliseum and I advise you all to take some five hour energy beforehand. Maybe even talk to your doctor to make sure it's safe, because there will be a lot to keep up with. Unlike our Big East battle between Seton Hall and Villanova, this game is going to be a track meet. Let's get into our expert picks.

Texas A&M Aggies vs. Alabama Crimson Tide NCAA Basketball Insights

Nate Oats leads the Tide at home against the Texas A&M Aggies tonight
The Crimson Tide have been slipping down the national rankings since the start of the season. They are just 14-7 on the year and 4-4 in SEC play. Now, they've played the toughest schedule in the country, but that doesn't excuse the fact that they are just 2-5 straight up and against the spread when facing ranked teams. The Aggies are about as close to being ranked as you can get, but don't quite meet the bar.
However I believe they should be. Bucky McMillan has his team at 17-4 this season and are a terrific 7-1 in SEC play. They are alone on top of a very deep conference, yet they still have several teams in the SEC ahead of them. Tonight they can certainly make a statement on the road against the Tide, and as we've seen in the past, Alabama is not invincible at home. Can the Aggies make this a game? I certainly think so.

Texas A&M vs. Alabama Prediction: Texas A&M Wins Outright, Over 179
Best Bet: Texas A&M/Alabama Over 179 (-107) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
Get ready to learn Bucky Ball, Tide fans. Texas A&M plays a self-proclaimed "mother in law" style of defense, which Bucky McMillan describes as "constant nagging and harassment". This is the same style of play he preached at Samford and has not brought it to College Station. The Aggies get in your face defensively, they don't take possessions off, and on the other side of the floor, they play as fast as Alabama and shoot plenty of threes or get to the hoop. They are allergic to the midrange shot, and for good reason.
The Tide are No. 7 in the country in terms of possessions per game, ranking No. 3 in 3P Rate. They only shoot about 35% as a team, and their defense struggles. The Crimson Tide are ninth worst in forcing turnovers and are north of 300 in offensive rebounds allowed as well. While they do have some good defensive numbers, I think the Aggies can take it to them.
Texas A&M is also top 20 in pace in the nation, ranking top 25 in 3P Rate and top 30 in 3P%, shooting over 37.3% as a team. They crash the glass, get to the free throw line and force plenty of turnovers. The pace itself will be enough to get this over the total, but I also think taking a stab at the Aggies to win outright could be a nice look tonight in Tuscaloosa.
