TCU vs Texas Tech Basketball Prediction & Picks

Eddie Griffin

With four straight wins, Texas Tech has moved into the March Madness bubble conversation with three big games left. The first one comes this afternoon as they welcome #24 TCU to Lubbock (12:00 pm ET, ESPN2).

The Red Raiders (16-12, 5-10 Big 12) were 1-10 in conference play just two weeks ago, ahead of Kansas State’s visit to United Supermarkets Arena.

Since then, they have picked up home wins over the #12 Wildcats and #6 Texas and road wins over West Virginia and Oklahoma.

There’s still a lot of work for Texas Tech to do, but with home games against TCU and Oklahoma State sandwiched around a trip to Kansas, hope is still very much alive.

The Horned Frogs, meanwhile, are solidly in the March Madness field, but they will be looking to avoid a sixth loss in seven games.

Will the Rich Run of Results Continue for Texas Tech Bettors

It may well be that this run is too little, too late for Texas Tech, but the Red Raiders have picked the right time to start playing like the team that they were expected to be this season.

Last Four Games for Texas Tech

  • vs Kansas State: won 71-63
  • vs Texas: won 74-67
  • at West Virginia: won 78-72
  • at Oklahoma: won 74-63

Along with helping propel Texas Tech back into the bid discussion, bettors have benefitted as well.

While the Red Raiders have won four straight games overall, their stretch of improvement goes back a bit further.

Texas Tech opened Big 12 play with a loss at TCU then lost seven more in a row, but they are now 6-2 in their last eight games. In that period, they are 7-1 ATS and have covered in five straight games.

There’s a lot to like about their offensive output during their run as well. They have topped the 70-point mark in all six wins, and that has helped the over go 5-2-1 in the last eight games.

TCU vs Texas Tech Prediction and Picks

Horned Frogs vs Red Raiders Prediction: Texas Tech to win

Horned Frogs vs Red Raiders Pick: Texas Tech ML (Best Value: Caesars Sportsbook)

If TCU allows 70+ points in Lubbock, it will likely mean a loss for the Horned Frogs.

They have allowed 70+ points nine times in Big 12 play, and they are 3-6 SU and 4-5 ATS when doing so. In road games in conference play, they are 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS when they have allowed 70+ points.

Also, if the Red Raiders close as favorites for this matchup, it will be the 11th time this season that TCU has closed as an underdog.

That also doesn’t bode well for the Horned Frogs. They recorded straight up and ATS wins in their first three games as an underdog this season, but they are 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS in the seven instances that have occurred since then.
